No Sheila, my mother was waiting to see her once a year cancer specialist and overheard the pleas.

I've heard stories like this before. It sickens me. If a Dr. found someone suffering on the side of the road they would help them but if someone comes into their office on their own free will they only get treatment if they can afford it. That's messed up.

Thankfully, we have full medical coverage in Canada and no one can be refused medical services, including drugs, therapies and other services. There may be a wait period for some services, but greatly exaggerated by the press and some people.

My daughter, a doctor in Florida, says that no one can be refused at any hospital in the USA. It is illegal, regardless of insurance.

It is also a proven medical fact, that people recover better away from the hospital environment, and early discharges to us, are in fact, not so. For example, they found, by study, that patients go backwards after simple visitation, and that is why they opened up visitation hours from what used to be one hour afternoon or evening, to open hours.

    Cheers,

    Jim

Maybe there is some hope for that lady's husband after all. I would like to think so.

Thank you Jim, for clarifying that,

Sounds like they were being refused at a specialist's office, not at a hospital?

Doesn't make it any more acceptable in my book Roger. Still an apalling way to treat someone in need. I thought the U.S. regarded itself as a Christian country?

It seems that circumstances differ to how they are reported. I reserve judgment from experience.

    Cheers,

That's correct Roger. It was a cancer specialist in Atlanta and in his private office.

If someone is dying or ill, they cannot be refused at a hospital but all hospitals generally do not have doctors on staff. Our local hospital even has ER doctor's who are with a certain group that JUST goes to Emergency Rooms. You'll receive a bill from the ER no matter what your income and then a separate bill for the doctor who saw you and if someone had to read X-Rays, from that person also. A hospital cannot refuse to see you or admit you but you could lie there and die.

When I had an allergic reaction to hair color, I went to the ER and got a bill for the visit and the shots and then a separate bill from a doctor's group. A 10 min. visit was over $200. Thankfully the hair coloring company paid it all in full.

Good Morning all. I can't sleep again so I thought I would look in here. Seems this place has shut down for the night...

You are welcome. Who knows what the Lord has planned for you this summer? Just keep waiting on HIM.

When do your co-workers eventually join you in Ireland? This must be an exciting time for you.

The winds are getting up here again. I am off back to bed. I think I will listen to the BBC World on the radio.

    Will look in later

    God Bless

    Sheila

I am at the airport - Beth has just gone through security.

Our coworkers arrive in about an hour. They will eventually be living here and working with us. They have been here the last two summers with youth teams for our Holiday Bible Club.

    Roger,

Have you heard from Beth yet? Did she have a good flight?

Well, we have a beautiful bright day here. It is fairly cold, but so good to see the sunshine. We introduced Mariel to Sainburys today and then treated ourselves to a leisurely coffee in the Coffee Shop there.

Mariel was also introduced to the price of our postage rates for posting cards back to the U.S. It really is quite expensive here at 43 pence for one postcard to go airmail.

I hope everyone is ok here. Where's Jim? I hope he is ok. I have to go out soon to return some library books to uni so I will look in later.

    God Bless

    Sheila

    Roger,

For me it is gardening weather. I would love to be out in the garden tidying it up and pottering. Unfortunately I have to be disciplined and do the chores which need to be done first. That's no fun, LOL. The greenhouse desparately needs some attention.

Glad Beth got home safe and sound. An answer to prayer.

    I will look in later,

    God Bless

    Sheila
