Yes, and have you noticed how Bush is attempting to surround Russia with missles ... kind of like Russia in Cuba. How would you feel if Russia was constructing a "defense" missle sheild in Canada?

But at least the two have been talking and may even like each other, but that does not mean that they will cooperate when it comes to their own country's interest.

This is a rather disengenuous post. To simly say he is surrounding Russia with Missles is in fact incorrect. He is however continuing the long standing American polciy of setting up anit-missle programs which are for defense.

At this point Since Russia has invaded a soverign state and continues to lie about what they are doing in side this country they cannot be trusted to do anything. Since Russia supports a terrorist nation like Iran they cannot be trusted. Putin has made his bed and continues to make patters worse. We very well likely could enter into a ww3.

We need more Russia than of Georgia in my opinion

    Mitchell said:
    "Apparently you have no clue."

where did that come from man! I just asked you to contribute because I did not see much substance.

This is just strange, what are you talking about??? cpusa???
What are you talking about with talking points??? you are coming from an odd angle on this could you be more clear.

I stated very clearly the relationship changed when the guy form Georgia took power and the threat of Nato in Georgia. In my opinion our leadership in the White House has been incompetent in pushing Georgia to be part of Nato which was a mistake and arming them to the teeth and then giving them experience in Iraq they were loaded for bear(no pun) to attack South Osettia and kill Russian Peacekeepers so I am saying Bush was not working that hard to look at the big picture, just the idea of Bush caring or even working that hard on problems of the World is impossible to state , Bush is the worst President we have ever had in dealing with foreign countries he is not well respected.imo

a weak case??? this is exactly what I am saying Russia is more important than
Georgia for our markets, national security, and needing Russia as an ally.

I already stated Putin was KGB . Of course they have a relationship but it has been strained over the last couple of years because of Georgia, that is their backyard and her neighbors we should encourage same type of relationships we have with our neighbors Mexico and Canada.

Mitchell answer me this, do you think it would matter to the United States if we went back to a Cold War posture with Russia? I think it would
and can you keep the insults off this topic. Mitchell thankyou

Niteshift I did not say they had a wealth of resources(but resources) but they do have the resource to get along in the region and share in trade and wealth of that region by being a good neighbor to Russia , as like Mexico has benefited from us being a good neighbor the same can happen for Georgia with Russia.

Russia has a large population of Christians and an emerging Baptist Church I would not like to see a renewal of Cold War tensions, because we have so much more to gain than to lose with Russia.

Russia is such an enormous market for us, I say no to any kind of Iron Curtain coming down again , there is no need for it.

I don't hate Bush in fact he just helped a lot of family's with the home bailout but in this policy matter he has been incompetent he will be gone soon and there is only one way to go and that is up because he has put us down to the bottom in world opinion.

I as many in this country do not care about much fo ths world opinion as you put it. The truth is however that to use the word "world" is incorrect. It is not the whoel "world' that is against us. And in truth those who are have a different value system. And it is only when we change to their value system that their "opinion" will change. I am nto for a differnt value system.

Supporting Georgia is nether wrong nro immoral. And Russia supports terrorist nations and in fact has invaded a soveriegn state. There is no room for partnering with that intil repentance is had. Bush has made every attempt far beyond what I think we should have done.

We could replace the oil coming out of Russia right here in this country. It is rather hypocriticle to want and desire some sort of partnership with Russia based on the need for oil when we will not even drill and refine in our own back yard. Those who believe it will destroy the environment seem to be willing to destroy others environments instead of ours. This inconsistancy can not be explained.

You may be unaware that just last April, NATO refused to bring Georgia into the alliance, as they have been requesting. If anything, this reassured Putin that there would be no consequences for his actions in Georgia.

So what? The USA supports terrorists inside Iran! Russia supports terrorists, we support terrorists, Iran supports terrorists. Our hands are no cleaner than theirs, we just have a bigger and better propaganda machine that's all.

You should really read The Grand Chessboard. Then you might not have to repeat these looney conspiracy theories the pentagon and mass media keep pushing on us anymore.

Whether or not we have cleaner hands is not really the issue at this point. Putin has been provoking the Georgian government for months, and they finally reacted. A unwise move on their part, since their military is miniscule compared to Russia's.

I would question the notion that 'we have a bigger and better propaganda machine' than Russia does.
