The Bible and the Revised Calvinist Version of the Bible.

It just takes a little imagination.

    Matthew 1:21

Bible: And you shall call his name 'Jesus' for he will save his people from their sins.

RCV: And you shall call his name 'Jesus' for he will save the elect from their sins.

    Matthew 15:24

I only came for the lost house of Israel

I only came for the elect of the house of Israel

    Matthew 20:28

The Son of Man did not come to be served but to serve and give his life as a ransom for many.

The Son of Man did not come to be served but to serve and give his life as a ransom for the elect.

    Matthew 22:14

Many are called but few are chosen.

Many are called but few are effectually called.

    Matthew 24:13

He who stands firm to the end will be saved.

He who is saved will stand firm to the end.

    John 1:12

But to those who received him, who believed in his name, he gave authority to become children of God, who were born not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh or the will of man, but of God

But to those who received him, those who were born again children of God, he gave the ability to believe in his name unto justification, who were born not because they had believed in his name but only because God had chosen and predestined them to be born again.

    John 1:29

Behold the Lamb of God who takes away the sins of the world.

Behold the Lamb of God who takes away the sins of the elect.

    John 3:16

For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten Son so that whosoever may believe in him will not perish but have eternal life

For God so loved the elect that he gave his only begotten Son so that the elect who only can believe in him will not perish but have eternal life

    Acts 16:30-31

"'Sirs, what must I do to be saved?' They replied, 'Believe upon the Lord Jesus Christ and you will be saved."

"'Sirs, what must I do to be believe?' They replied, 'Be saved upon the Lord Jesus Christ and you will believe.'"

"A man is not saved because he believes in Christ; he believes in Christ because he is saved."
(Loraine Boettner, The Reformed Doctrine of Predestination, Chapter 11.1.4).

    1 Cor 2:14

The natural man does not accept the things which comes from the Spirit God for it is foolishness to him and he cannot know because these things are spiritually discerned.

The unregenerate man does not accept the things which come from the Spirit God for it is foolishness to him and he cannot understand Reformed doctrine because it is spiritually discerned.

    Galatians 1:8

But even if we or an angel from heaven should preach a gospel other than the one we preached to you, let him be anathema.

But even if we or an angel from heaven should preach a gospel other than five point Calvinism, label him an accursed Arminian or some other term you find to be derogatory and that will settle everything.

    1 Timothy 2:4

This is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior who wills all men to be saved and to come to the full knowledge of the truth.

This is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior who wills all sorts of men to be saved and to come to the full knowledge of the truth.

    2 Timothy 2:10-13

Therefore I endure everything because of the elect, that they may obtain salvation that is in Christ Jesus, with eternal glory. Faithful is the word. If we died with him we will also live with him. If we endure we will reign with him. If we disown him he will also disown us. If we are faithless he will remain faithful for he cannot disown himself.

Therefore I endure everything because of the yet unregenerate elect, that they may obtain this new birth salvation that is in Christ Jesus with eternal glory. Faithful is the word. If we died with him we will also live with him. Because we will endure we will reign with him. If it was possible to disown him he would still not disown us. If we are faithless he will remain faithful for he cannot disown himself.

    2 Peter 1:10-11

Therefore rather, be diligent to make your calling and election sure for in doing these things you will never fall.

Therefore rather, be reminded that your calling and election is sure for you will do these things even if you stumble a little bit now and then.

    1 Peter 3:9

The Lord is not slow concerning his promise as some men reckon slowness but is patient with us not willing that anyone should perish but all should come to repentance.

The Lord is not slow concerning his promise as some men reckon slowness but is patient with the yet unsaved elect not willing that any of the elect should perish but all the elect should come to repentance.

    1 John 2:2

And he is the propitiation for our sins, not for ours only but also for the sins of the whole world.

And he is the propitiation for the sins of we Jews, not for we Jews only but also for the sins of all the Gentile nations.

That's coincidental! I was just looking through my Revised Arminian version and found these great verses!

    (2 Timothy 2:11)

Bible: It is a faithful saying: For if we be dead with him, we shall also live with him:

RAV: It is a faithful saying: For if we be dead with him, we MAY also live with him:

    (John 10:11)

Bible: I am the good shepherd: the good shepherd giveth his life for the sheep.

RAV: I am the good shepherd: the good shepherd giveth his life for both sheep and goats.

    (Ephesians 5:25)

    Bible: Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it;

    RAV: Husbands, love your wives and other women, even as Christ also loved the church and the world, and gave himself for them;

    (2 Thessalonians 2:13)

Bible: But we are bound to give thanks alway to God for you, brethren beloved of the Lord, because God hath from the beginning chosen you to salvation through sanctification of the Spirit and belief of the truth:

RAV: But we are bound to give thanks alway to God for you, brethren beloved of the Lord, because God hath from the beginning offered you salvation because of your sanctification of the Spirit and belief of the truth:

    (Ezekiel 36:26,27)
Bible: A new heart also will I give you, and a new spirit will I put within you: and I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give you an heart of flesh. And I will put my spirit within you, and cause you to walk in my statutes, and ye shall keep my judgments, and do them.

RAV: A new heart also will I give you (if you take it), and a new spirit will I put within you (if you'll chose it): and I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh (if you let me), and I will give you an heart of flesh (should I first get permission). And I will put my spirit within you, and cause you to walk in my statutes, and ye shall keep my judgments, and do them (if you so desire).

    :D

Jesus, the Good shepherd's death was to atone for sin, so that whosoever believeth in Him could pass from death (natural and spiritual) into eternal life. Goats stop being goats through faith in God while living this natural life. Those who die as goats die the second death for being goats, not for sin, sin has been atoned...All of it! Eli's house remained "goats".

Ezekiel is prophesying God's word to the Israelites!
Not for WHOLE WORLD dissimination! Besides when Ezekiel spoke or penned those words, the "known world" was the middle east, eastern Mediterranian region

Yes it is useful for edification! But the application is to Israel, not generally to Thessolonica or Ephesus, or Chicago, or Moscow.

I used KJV for the 'Bible' section. Don't take it so seriously Wes! The thread is tongue in cheek (obviously). :D

It seems Arminians lack a sense of humor when they get picked at. [IMG]

Mostly, Christians object to "digs" at their faith, but especially from those who also call themselves Christian.

Both sides of this C vs A debate react the same way that you describe Kiffen.

For those who like to use the phrases whosoever believeth or whosoever will to justify Arminian error just know that these are synonyms for the elect or those chosen in Jesus Christ before the foundation of the world.
