    Sorry Rev Mitchell,

Here's the real truth about Canadian health care from someone who has experienced it for the last half century personally and with family members.

    1. Its not perfect. No system is. Even the Martian health system. They're all green.
    2. The CDN system is more cost effective then the US. Canadians get more value for their health care $$.
    3. The proof your system is more expensive is the CDN doctors and nurses that were going to the US because they made more money there which americans pay for.
    4. The flow of CDNS has greatly deminished as our two systems start meeting halfway.
    5. All Canadians are covered, regardless of income or age or ethnic background.
    6. All Canadians recieve immediate care for life threatening situations, immediate.
    7. Elective surgery ie. shoulder, hip has wait times of apprx 2-4 months but everyone is served.
    8. Some electives such as eye check up or Chiro is now pay as you go. Those 18 and under recieve free eye check ups.
    9. Low income seniors qualify for susidies to help pay for prescription drugs.
    10. Some experimental drugs approved in the US are not approved in Canada just as some Mexican cancer care is not approved in the US.
    11. Canada is going to a 2tier system adding private while Obama wants to go 2tier adding public.
    12. Canada's system is excellant but the mental health area needs work and a CDN govt task force is in full swing to upgrade.
    13. Emergency wait times at hospitals are long but serious cases get seen first.
    14. Some of the best cancer hospitals in the world are in Canada..Princess Margaret in Toronto..Sunnybrook in Toronto..Royal Victoria in Montreal.
    15. Canadian Universities are some of the best in the world at pumping out Doctors, health care professionls etc.
    16. In summary, the best system will probally be both public and private health care in both CDA and the US. When your loved ones are dying you don't care if its public or private. The training they recieve to get licences are set at Universities and teaching hospitals.
In the end we all have ticking time bombs inside of us and even the best doctor or hospital can't save you. Only Christ can save you by the shedding of his blood and accepting him as Lord and Saviour.

First I am not the only one that is adamantly opposed to socialist health care. Second I can provide all kinds of first hand experiences from Canadians who have a completely different view of your socialized health care. You have provided nothing.

Rev Mitchell, how naive you are,

    You state,

" First I am not the only one that is adamantly opposed to socialist health care"

And your military is not a socialist military? Its heavily subsidised by the American tax payer. The military industrial complex is the most heavily tax payer funded system in the world.

Anytime tax payers fund something its socialist, wether its health care or military. Remember, the US government is "for the people by the people," otherwise you have anarchy.

    Speaking of naivete!

Providing for the common defense is not Socialism. Paying taxes for law enforcement and national defense is paying one the wages he has earned in public service, and the practice is expounded upon by none other than St. Paul.

Taxing one to give his wealth to one who has not earned it is Socialism.

You should change your name to belching subterfuge, 'cause you ain't shinin' no light.

Well, this American, who has experienced the American health care system for 48 years, would rather have ours than theirs. So there you have it. My view counts more, and no Canadian can argue with it, because I'm American.

I 100% agree with Rev.Mitchell. Socialized healthcare doesn't work for those who are ill. For those who are healthy, it's fine but once you get sick, then hang on to your hat.

You have no concept of our government or our constitution. Probably should not try to speak on it.

Well here's an American who is older than 48 and would love to have a Canadian system rather than this system we have now. I believe my view is more consistent with both the needs and the wants of the American people. Therefore my view counts more.

Because "you believe" that your vieiw is more consistent with the needs and wants of the American people" - your view counts more???

What if your belief is wrong?

Where and how does "your view count more"?

    Count for what?

Sounds like someone has a some sort of narcissism problem.

Except that Curtis said that his view of the U.S. health care system counts more than a Canadian's because he is a U.S. citizen - and it does.

That is a whole different ballpark than what Snow is saying.

I understand that and this post makes your position more clear. And we need to remember that his position is most likely based on the claims of MP.

    As posted by Aaron,

"Providing for the common defense is not Socialism. Paying taxes for law enforcement and national defense is paying one the wages he has earned in public service, and the practice is expounded upon by none other than St. Paul.

Taxing one to give his wealth to one who has not earned it is Socialism."

What about the common defence against disease?
What about paying public doctors? They will earn it just like police and armed forces.
Robin Hood stole from the rich and gave to the poor. Our Lord always helped the poor. Where's your decency? And you call yourself a Christian. You should be ashamed. Don't get hung up on the Socialism garbage. Its about doing the right thing.

We disagree. I believe that there are more people who want some type of universal health care than don't. Many disagree with me on this. Ultimately, I also think we will have some move toward an improvement in health care within the next few months. I do not want Congress to rush but to carefully consider their options and move toward a single payer plan. Time will tell.

Single payer is a fallacy. You can't raise successful people's taxes to pay for the less successful's health care, and call it "single payer". You want the rich to provide you with free care. Why not just say it ?

I don't believe it is a fallacy. I believe it is the best system. But, if there is another way that works, that's alright too!

I disagree Bro. Curtis, I think it's fair as long as everyone pays the same percentage. Consider yourself blessed if your 10% is a lot more than mine.
