Isn't health care money given to doctors and hospitals? Don't they provide a service? Their service is saving lives. The "service" of the military is ending them.

Agreed. So quit taking pot shots and debate the issues.

No. Socialized health "care" is all about control. Costs will go up and quality of care will go down. It will bankrupt this nation.

Actually, that's what your proposed health care will do. It will end the lives of unborn, terminally ill and those who've live past their life expectancy. (Socialists are not only liars, they're murderers.)

In contrast, the U.S. military saves the lives of it's citizens by threatening death to those who would oppress them.

Each citizen equally shares in the benefit of national defense and owes a debt to those who serve. Not so with any other kind of welfare. Only some people benefit, and the others are robbed to pay their debts. But that's beside the point.

Scripturally, civil government is only to punish the evildoer and praise those that do well.

Some of my friends who are doctors tell me that they keep about 1/3 and about 2/3 goes somewhere else. Seems to me according to the research I did in 2004 that insurance companies are making more than they ever have.

Malpractice insurance is terrifically expensive even in rural areas. My roommate in college and his wife were both doctors in southern VA on the NC border and they both retired at age 60. Of course they're doing all right financially but my roommate almost had to stop delivering babies because insurance for that area was especially high. To my knowledge they were both excellent doctors but that didn't matter.

One of my physicians was about to quit because his income had gone down so much due to insurance companies putting the squeeze on payments for various procedures.

I don't think there's any question that our health care system just isn't working very well.

I cringe every time I go into a doctor's office and see the rows of filing cabinets filled with paper records. I'm convinced a lot of people have received improper care because our medical records aren't on computers. I also think it's crazy that drug prescriptions are still written by hand and many times misinterpreted. Filling a prescription by mail for me was delayed once because they had to have three pharmacists try to decipher the doctor's handwriting.

Malpractice insurance is so high because of lawsuits - what is needed is tort reform - not a drastic change in our health care system. Democrats oppose tort reform because they get so much money from trial lawyers.

Computerizing medical records does not require a drastic change to our health care system.

Ordering drug prescriptions by computer rather than by handwritting does not require a drastic change to our health care system.
