As far as I know, nobody has focused upon the real roots of the war on terror, which are also the solution to it - American-sponsored terrorism. Paid military extremist types, trained by us to carry-out attack missions upon civilians are terrorists, our terrorists. They attack civilians, often women and children, as an indirect method of warfare, to topple governments who oppose American expansion. Has anybody questioned what military challenge the world would face today, if the US suddenly stopped all of these covert programs that perpetrate most of the world's "terrorism"?

If the CIA/Mossad simply stopped training, arming, financing and transporting the (mostly Islamic) fighters/mercenaries all over the world (as it has been deeply in the business of doing for the past thirty or more years), would world peace then break-out? If our government was not in the business of killing the people whose relatives then make war against American and allied forces, would our soldiers be fighting anywhere in the world?

Pick any ongoing conflict in the world and see if you do not see the secret hands of the United States/Israel busily at work fanning the flames. These flames are the legends which feed the American homeland political fires, giving the "war on terror" the popular support it must have to continue its churning destruction, which, even now, is escalating.

To those who "have eyes to see," it is obvious that the secret CIA terrorism that ignites the terror war also drives our electoral process. The hometown "heroes" of the war inspire support for either presidential candidate and his congressional supporters who seem most supportive of the "heroic" war effort. If the CIA minions were not driving the terror war and the fear that fuels national support for the genocidal fight, there would be little to no support for continuing the fight against terrorism. How much "terrorism" would then be left to fight?

poncho, with all due respect, that article is nuts.

America is not responsible for the Islamic Terrorism throughout the world. In fact, when Islamic terrorism started towards the Jews of Mecca 623 A.D., America wasn't even conceived as a nation. It's their religion. Please.

LadyEagle, with all due respect, our nation was never the target of Islamic terrorist attacks until our government started monkeying around in the middle east, toppling governments that weren't to our liking and supporting repressive unpopular regimes that served the purposes of our power elite (starting with installing the Shah in Iran in 1953). It's called "blowback".

I'm by no means saying we should let terrorists like Osama Bin-Ladin off the hook (though our "leaders" have done that anyway by redirecting our military efforts to invade and conquer Iraq which had no connection to 9-11). I am saying we shouldn't be so naive to buy the propaganda that "they hate us because of our freedoms" or "they hate us because they're Muslims and that's just the nature of their religion".

Seems like some folks would rather totally ignore that part of our covert history than admit that we may be reaping the rewards of some of our own actions and policies directed towards the "Islamic world" in the last few decades.

How do you explain the Armenian Genocide, then? (The Ottoman Empire muslims - Turkey) That happened in the 1800s. Islamic history is hatred, murder, torture, rape, slavery, or dhimmitude against Christians, Jews, and non-muslims as they conquest to take over the world for allah. That has been the history all over the world from the beginning of that religious political system.

Sorry, I think the OP is more propaganda from the "hate America first" crowd.

The CIA has been a hated and feared organization in the world for my entire life. I love my country but there are some things that must change.

If the CIA and American meddling are the cause of Islamic attacks, why did the jihadis attack Bali and Spain? Why have they been exploding bombs in India for many years?

"This lie is self-contradictory. If the Arab Afghans are a US creation, why did the United States seek to expel them over a period of two years?"

Same way we explain genocide against the American Indian People and and the British export of food during the Starvation in Ireland. Greed and hate.

    This is your expert witness.

Dr. Ayman Muhammad Rabaie al-Zawahiri (Arabic: أيمن محمد ربيع الظواهري‎, the last name also sometimes being transliterated al-Dhawahiri to reflect normative classical Arabic pronunciation beginning with [ðˤ], born June 19, 1951) is a prominent leader of al-Qaeda, and was the second and last "emir" of Egyptian Islamic Jihad, having succeeded 'Abbud al-Zummar in the latter role when Egyptian authorities sentenced al-Zummar to life imprisonment. Al-Zawahiri is a qualified surgeon, and is an author of works including numerous al-Qaeda statements. He speaks Arabic and English.[1][2] Al-Zawahiri is under worldwide embargo by the UN 1267 Committee as a member or affiliate of al-Qaeda.[3]

In 1998 al-Zawahiri formally merged Egyptian Islamic Jihad into al-Qaeda. According to reports by a former al-Qaeda member, he has worked in the al-Qaeda organization since its inception and was a senior member of the group's shura council. He is often described as a "lieutenant" to Osama bin Laden, though bin Laden's chosen biographer has referred to him as the "real brains" of al-Qaeda.[4]

As of July 2008, he is still at large. There were reports on August 1, 2008 that he may be dead or dying,[5][6] but United States counterterrorism officials said there was no credible evidence to indicate al-Zawahiri had been hurt or killed. The Taliban have also denied these claims. In early September of 2008, Pakistan military claimed that they "almost" captured al-Zawahiri after getting information that he and his wife were in the Mohmand Agency, in northwest Pakistan. After raiding the area, officials didn't find him. [7]

I fail to find him very credible. Do you really believe anything he says?

Who else would know more about it? He is the brains behind Al Qaeda. He and Bin Laden issued the original fatwah against the Jews and "crusaders".
