It's good to see you admit gays are perverts.

I complained about the use of the word 'tea-baggers' about a week ago. It's meant simply to cause problems and rub salt in our eyes, I wish the administrators of this board would say something to those posting it all the time.

As for the racism issue... I'm happy to say that I've worked and served in the military with all sorts of different races. I don't give a rip what color you are and absolutely detest being lumped in with skin-heads and the KKK. It just steams me! Just like it steams me that even my own kin use my own faith against me to call me an 'out of touch republican nut-job' just because I refuse to agree with their arguements about when life begins and that I insist abortion is wrong and they assume I'm ALWAYS in agreement with Rush Limbaugh and Beck.

    *sigh*

I am truly sorry to disappoint you. The way I see it is that many on the right are super-sensitive concerning any charges of racism. For instance, immediately after I simply quoted what this author said I was challenged by two posters as to whether or not I was calling them a racist.

Although I don't know if anyone here is a racist and have never even hinted that this article is representative of anyone here, I do believe that there are many who oppose President Obama simply because he is black.

If you disagree that some people who oppose our president are racist, I believe you are being naive.

As Shakespeare said, "The lady (or in this case, Curtis) doth protest too much, methinks."

Sorry bub but the charge of racism is not genuine. It is a political tool to gain sympathy and favor for his policies since the truth of them will not. And the charge of racism has been made on this board since his campaign. It is always unfounded, without evidence. And if you do not believe that you are naive.

I'm glad your back, Robert. You help the conservative cause more than you could know.

So let me break it down to be sure how this works:

    • If I don't say I'm a "racist," I probably am.
    • If I admit I'm a "racist," I am, but at least I can be dealt with.
    • If I resent being labeled a "racist," I expose my "racism" by protesting.
    • If I disagree with the Obmanation, it is likely I am a "racist," though I might not be.

    What did I miss?

MP, a request: Please refrain from using the t_b_gger term. Look...I know you didn't come up with the term, but if our speech is to be "full of grace," shouldn't you extend that grace in this one way? I'm asking as a fellow BB poster...obviously I have no authority to do so. But could we use "teapartiers" or something equivalent? It still allows you to express your disapproval...but it stays away from connotations that are not becoming for Christian forums.

Robert Snow...there is a reason that your allegations of racism trouble conservative people.

It's already difficult enough for conservatives to have any forum in which their views are given consideration. Most of the media (print and TV) ignore or belittle them. In the last generation, we have seen politics degenerate to the point that the "out of power" party no longer even has a seat at the table with regards to policy discussion, etc. (and yes...this is on BOTH sides of the aisle that we have seen this).

Finally, there are some "unpardonable sins" today. I'm not talking spiritual here...but rather accusations that, when levelled, effectively kill all debate. Furthermore, the race card is played in such a cavalier manner...it's pretty much an automatic reaction now. Critical of Obama? Well then, you're a racist. Of course, nowhere near all Obama supporters approach it this way. But...when "important" people such as Jimmy Carter play this game...God help us. It is disgusting, immature, and amazingly damaging to our public arena.

And I believe--just as strongly--that there are many who support Obama simply based upon his skin color...and they will instantly throw up the race card to any dissenters. If you disagree that some people who support our president are racist, I believe you are being just as naive.

Granted, but there's a huge difference between saying "there are racists who oppose President Obama" and "those who oppose President Obama are racists". The fact that someone such as Pres. Carter can make a claim of racism without any merit to the claim shows how easy it is to play the race card (it worked incredibly well for OJ Simpson).

For better or worse, some people are going to oppose a black POTUS in part due to his race. On the flip side, however, some people will oppose a white POTUS in part due to his race. The latter is usually dismissed, and rightly so. The former should be likewise dismissed.

On the occasions when Obama governs according to the color of his skin, I will and do oppose him based on his race.

As long as he governs without regard to race, I will oppose him based on his policies.

Honestly, I guess I am naive. I had never heard of that term used in a sexual way until someone here who apparently is familiar with it (and God only knows how) started protesting. Lots of perfectly good words can be co-opted.

But since I respect you (despite your shifting off the righty cliff lately :tongue3:) I will try to abide by your request.

Which means only you can determine which way it may be, I suppose?

Obama has practiced race based politics his entire political career.

He hasn't stopped just because he is now POTUS.

I never said that racism was only involving conservatives. I am sure there are racists on both sides.

    Thank you.

And on the rare occasion that I manage to get a foot on the cliff...I will thank you personally.
