I was thought at a young age "that the method is as important as the message." -casual message, casaul methods. important message, important methods."Christ like"

Could you please expound from scripture on how Christ dressed on a day to day basis and also how he dressed for his meeting in the upper room with the disciples and oh yes, how he dressed whenever he taught them anything from scripture? Obviously, this cannot be done. So to attach "Christ-like," in terms of dress can ONLY be done in terms of how it may relate scripturally.

    Thanks
    Michael

Like I have said,I don't see dress as the issue, but if you look at the churches that are shifting to a more casual contemp style, you will see other areas of concern...not always, but in our experience what we have seen is not just a casual dress(on purpose to attract unbelievers),but also a lack of strong biblical teaching, music that elevates man intead of God and a irreverent atmosphere. This is where my problem lies.

Are you simply repeating what you have heard someone else say or can you provide some data on your "experience" in this alleged trend?

Can you name some leading contemporary churches that a) lack strong biblical teaching, b) have music that elevates man instead of God, and c) create an irreverent atmosphere?

Since this is such a trend, this should not be a difficult task.

When I go fishing, I bait a hook and cast the line into the water with the hope of bringing in a fish. I don't jump into the water and join the fish.

    Cheers,

    Jim

If you jump in, you are not going to catch the fish (changing the message).

But neither are you going to catch many fish if you stand on the bank with a sharp stick instead of getting in a boat with a rod-and-reel & bait (changing the methods).

Methods change -- the message itself does not.

I supose since I don't have nice clothes to wear to church tomorrow I must be one of thsoe goats that the worship service has been dumbed down for. I'd like for someone to show me just one verse where we are told to wear fancy clothes to church, and that the clothes you wear has anything to do with reverence, or worship.

The answer to your request, Kate, is clearly indicated by 49 hours (so far) of silence.

When I go to heaven to be with my Lord I shall be wearing a new Robe, that He will provide for me.

And here on earth I refuse to let clothing come between me and my Lord.

I am already dressed for church. I was annointed with His blood. The church that I attend on Sunday is nothing more than a building. I am that temple that houses my Lords Spirit. He does not dwell in the building, because he dwells in me.

He saw me when He created Adam and Eve. He saw me before I was in my mothers womb, Because He formed me and breathed life into me. My attire means nothing to Him. He sees me in the bath tub/shower, He sees me when I go to the store, he sees me as I write this. He is looking pass my clothes.

What He sees when I go to that building to lift His name on high, and to join in fellowship of song and praise is the same girl He saw naked from Her mothers womb.

What I wear on the outside of my body to church, is far less important, than what I wear on the inside to church.

Praise God for showing me that!

    Sherrie
