    When I get parallel in the water, w/o anything to hold to, and go under, I panic and begin flailing. I can wade the water all day, as long as I have my feet on the bottom, but getting parallel, nay nay.

    New Joisians have discovered they cant bury a body at sea without puncturing the lungs which are filled with air rendering they buoyant. So try to float on your back first to gain confidence & then try treading water. Gotta do it brother...your missing out on snorkeling & swiimming & most water sports...that needs to be a must so your list of objective To Do's :smilewinkgrin:
