What were the NAMES of the 'Bishops' that the Apostles appointed in this Apostolic Succesion fairy tale?

    Prove us all wrong.

Us fundies don't get all caught up in tracing our faith back... All we have to do is open the Bible, and there it is !!!!! All spelled out for everyone.

So it's pretty easy to see that biblically, we are on the right track.

Curtis, I saw your smiling face in the post above, right below Kelly's picture and couldn't help but wonder...

If it's all spelled out for everyone, why exactly do you two particular fundies have such polar beliefs on so many issues of faith?

The Trinity and soul sleep for instance, which of you is right? How do you know for sure?

I suppose you would have to do a look-back and see. Trace the line back from a particular pastor and see who appointed him and who appointed him and so on.

How far could you go back with your pastor?

My understanding is that Baptist pastors are hired by the congregation by majority vote as opposed to being appointed to the office by another holding office.
    </font>[/QUOTE]Bro. Curtis,

The Baptist pastor hired by the congregation by majority vote and the Pope selected Bishop of Rome by majority vote of Cardinals both hold the highest office in the church (i.e., Pastor of a local congregation of Christians) by divine right: And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers;Eph. 4:11.

Pastors can also come to a local congregation through appointment (apostolic succession). Although, by human right only, this method is also acceptable provided the local congregation confirms the divine call.

Also, by human right, the Pope is the head of a voluntary association of Roman churches. This is similar to a Baptist pastor being president of a free association of Baptist churches.
