Do our Christian teens go to the library, roller skate, play a guitar, and drink Jamba juices? Sure they do!

So what is world about this?

When Jesus entered the synagogue at Nazareth, it was a scroll of Isaiah that he unrolled. What did that look like?

It seems like you guys know what that looked like and therefore can determine what a Bible should look like.

"and the scroll of the prophet Isaiah was handed to him. Unrolling it, he found the place where it is written" (Luke 4:17, TNIV).

What have we come to in Christianity?

It's not a black covered KJV so it's evil. We do get it and we don't agree.

No, it is quite evident that you do not get it.

Revolve and Refuel are magazines that are being sold under the guise of being the Word of God. They sell flesh instead of strengthening one's walk with God.

Ok! You have your opinion (I'll say it for you, "No, it's God's opinion" and I'll say "Whatever.") Maybe we need to start a new thread on DHK's "grace robbers." It could be titled, "How to Effectively Deal with Grace Robbers." For here too we see "grace robbers" at work.

I don't know. They are all dead so I can't ask any of them.

    Translators intent??

Well, I appreciate that you're entitled to your opinion brother, and I assure you, I do understand - I just don't agree. I am curious tho'. Why do you feel so threatened by a couple of teen ezines? Have you taken the time to actually read the content or just made a blanket condemnation because it's not done in the format/language/tone you deem as correct? What about seriously considering that these ezines might be drawing these young people closer to God as Tim or Ann testify. Had you or Pastor Bob even considered this possibility? I think our shepherd would be pleased the lambs have returned no matter how, when, where or why. I appreciate people can have very intense opinions, but just because KJV (for e.g.), or whatever version you use, might be your cup of tea, doesn't mean that you have the monopoly on scripture and spiritual knowledge. What works for you is obviously not going to work for a 15 year old (e.g.), and I'm surprised that both you and Pastor Bob appear to be a bit self-righteous about this. It saddens me because this is exactly why we end up turning people away/off from relationship with God.

My heart is grieved about how professing believers treat each other in this thread. What kind of testimony is that of the grace of God?

Personally I don´t care for the marketing philosophy that was used in the production of these Bible formats. That flows from my theological perspective that a child of God will read the Word of God without gimmicks, and that unbelievers will only read the Word if God draws them to it.

However, I don´t think I should waste my time condemning the brethren who choose to use these Bibles. Folks there are greater dangers out there than this out there. Show a little grace.

No matter what SFIC or others like him say, I praise God for them.

It may not be the only Bible my son uses... he also uses the NIV study, and the NLT student application (which has similar articles ).... and he is a good solid Christian.

So, you can take your slice of laodicea website and read it all you want, to me it is a worthless waste of internet space. A site devoted to robbing grace from people.

As long as the word of God is in their hands in a way that they will actually READ it, it's OK by me. What's the use of giving them a bible that will be tossed on a shelf to gather dust?

I have to say that my own daughters did not get "dumbed down" or "weak" in reading the Revolve Biblezine. My oldest is 18 and is beginning to get beyond the "teen" thing and she asked for an ESV for Christmas, which I got her. She's been studying Romans on her own as we are doing it in church and she's been growing and doing amazing things for God. So, no - she's not using that all the time right now, but she still will go back and look at it. What's different between that and any "Life Application" or other type of Bible with notes added that are not the Word of God? So, it's speaking on teen issues. I have the Woman's Devotional Bible that I'm using for my daily reading (it's small and has been easy to carry around with me) and that also has stuff in it that's added. I don't care about what's added to the Bible in the form of articles, notes and helps because it's not changing the Word or claiming to be inspired. We all who use Bibles like this seem to be able to have perspective on it. I guess some don't. But then again, I know that SIFC has used a Bible with "other" notes in it that are not the inspired Word of God to explain what is written in it and has posted it's notes often here. What's the difference?

All I know my friend about your knowledge is what you share with us on this board. Based on that you haven't given me much to work with. I'm open minded enough to re-evaluate my opinion brother.

Hey gang, I had a terrible day yesterday, and probably shouldn't have been posting. My statements to SFIC and Pastor Bob were unnecessarily harsh. SFIC and Pastor Bob, I apologize for what I said earlier.

    Carry on.

    Vulgar tongue

Vulgar tongue = spoken by, or being in the language spoken by, the people generally; vernacular: vulgar tongue.

I no where condemned anyone for using these bibles. My frustration is toward the publishers who are packaging these bibles to look like the world. Why would a Christian teen be drawn to a worldly looking magazine in the first place?

It is not the cover that concerns me; it is the concept. I want my young people to desire God's Word without it having to be packaged like a teen magazine.
