Luke 5:20 -- "And when he saw their faith, he said unto him, Man thy sins are forgiven thee."

Whose faith was Jesus referring to? The men who tore up the housetop to place the man with palsy before Jesus? The man with palsy? Or was it both of them?

    Your thoughts?

God showed them that Jesus was/is the Messiah that had been prophesied for centuries. God gave them the abilty to believe.

All three synoptic accounts read 'their' faith.

The real, pertinent, question from this account is the very one that Christ asked:

"Which is easier, to say, Thy sins are forgiven thee; or to say, Arise and walk?"

Well the masculine plural pronoun should be a clue, Jesus is seeing the faith of the man and his friends. The faith that they believed Jesus could heal this man and acted on his behalf, anticipating Jesus' healing.

    Yep.

This shows how Scripture really has depth. This account is a great example.Yes, it shows Jesus' authority to not only heal but also forgive sin. It also shows the impact that the intercession of faithful men can have through Christ in the lives of others.
