There's an interesting dialogue going on between a Christian and an athiest.

I follow a blog by Tim Challies who is a believer and a rabid reader. :) He posts very thought provoking posts and reviews so many books and I find it really wonderful to follow.

Well, apparently, Tim had an atheist contact him and ask him to dialogue about his beliefs and Tim's beliefs. Tim agreed. So today is the first response from Tim after reading the atheists' letter to him. It's really good.

Here's the link to today's post:

Should be interesting. I read Challies daily and had the privilege of meeting him a couple of years ago at T4G.

I wish someone would enter into debate with David Wolpe, that is a man I would like to see converted to Christianity. James White could be the man for that, very articulate chap.

We could do with another Paul like character on the Christian scene if you ask me.

The atheist gave him a bunch of dung about his "life story".
I have long ago given up on these people.
Why should they have the slightest compunction about giving you a bunch of lies when they don't believe they have a God they need to account to anyway.
Anyone want to get an atheist's goat just ask him if he has any sense of morality.

He did say something about "morality" if I remember correctly.

It will be interesting to see how this discussion goes. Tim Challies is well educated, well spoken and well versed in Scripture. It will be something definitely worth following.

    Yeah, well.
I'll give this one atheist the benefit of a doubt, and follow the exchange.

The atheists letter is a typical college student denial of God once they enter our "wonderful" American secondary education. This bunch of liberals like Bart Erhman have used their classrooms to indoctrinate our youth with their unbelieving drivel, and this Luke guy sounds just like the thousands of others who now say there is no God and that the Bible is all made up. I would dare say that these unbelievers have always been unbelievers, for if they had been of us they would have remained with us. Hmmmmmm doesn't that sound familiar?

    Not necessarily.
I will not give up hope on anyone, even the basest scoundrel or the proudest atheist, for God has His own timetable for His elect children (whom we do not know and only He knows).
I do not for one minute believe that he was once a Christian, and if he was, then I seriously doubt his "Christianity".
I've met his type before in the many debates I've had with atheists.
They pretend to come to you rather "softly and tenderly", even attempting to identify with you, and then debate with you pleasantly and in a seemingly educated manner and then ask you leading questions and subtly turn the debate or argument into mockeries until you finally bite and ask them questions that seem to demean them, like "so if you don't believe you have a soul and you don't believe in God, what makes you any different from a dog who mounts another in public because he feels like it" and then they explode at you and that's when it really gets interesting.

    very interesting...

This makes me wonder how many are in the church experiencing the same things this atheist experienced- emotion, faith in vain, not born again... This is really sad to think about.

    pinoy,

I think you misunderstood me, I never meant I was giving up on the atheists, I was saying they were never saved as you did.:thumbsup:
