On September 28, 1868, a mob of Democratsmassacred nearly 300 African-American Republicans in Opelousas, Louisiana. The savagery began when racist Democrats attacked a newspaper editor, a white Republican and schoolteacher for ex-slaves. Several African-Americans rushed to the assistance of their friend, and in response, Democrats went on a “Negro hunt,” killing every African-American (all of whom were Republicans) in the area they could find.

Hi there...politics in America is so different to us in Australia...but I see often people of Christian faith very pro one or other...we should remember that we should always pray as 1Timothy2;1--3.....note it says first of all......prayers move the hand of God....pray they make the right decisions...be safe....rule honestly...all in authority....whether we like them or not is not relevant....and the result will be we will live a quiet and peaceable life.........not them...us.....so we pray for them to benefit us really.....and verse 3 should motivate any christian..amen

Yeah, it does look like there was an extra space in there. I believe it is legit, though.

The urbanlegends article was pretty interesting. I guess the idea for the plaque came from a Unitarian minister, so there's no wonder how a little error got in there. :)

They had to pass a law to outlaw Democratic Terrorists groups?

Now we know that you only posted this as a way to malign the Democrats and to associate them with the KKK.

Fortunately, some of us aren't so dumb as to believe the modern day KKK would associate itself with the Black heavy Democrat Party. That's why the KKK is now associated with the Republican Party.Thumbsup

Must be one of those things where they are saying that his policies more represented today's Democrat Party rather than Republican.

It is interesting how things and politics change over time. With Nixon and his Southern Policy the GOP switched to the other side, to win votes in the South. Now their front runner refuses to denounce the KKK and racism. [http://www.cnn.com/2016/02/28/politics/donald-trump-white-supremacists/]. Remember how Lee Atwater explained Nixon and the thinking of the GOP in establishing that policy? http://www.thenation.com/article/exclusive-lee-atwaters-infamous-1981-interview-southern-strategy/
