    News is the new reality show, the new soap opera. There is very little "news" on the 24 hr. "news" channels (FOX, CNN, MSNBC, etc). It is mostly opinion and entertainment. Therefore it should not surprise us that people make light of serious issues. After all, CNN promotes such silly behavior by putting it on their airwaves and by having a YouTube presidential debate with what I believe was a grown man dressed up in some sort of animal outfit? The world would be better off without 24hr news channels.
