Does anyone have any predictions as to what will happen? Mine is that during the meeting a major announcement will be made regarding the presidency at Southwestern Seminary.

Being NON-SBC (thank you, Jesus!) I'd be interested in what IS on the agenda. With the defection of the more liberal churches into the CBF, does that affect the "body" as a whole?

    Curious outsider

If those liberal churches are set in their mind, then the CBF might be the best place for them. And I believe the "defections" would serve to make those of us that remain constant stronger.

Brother Bob, I love all of your non-offensive insults! [IMG] Makes me feel like family!

    1. Our messengers will act like Baptists.
    2. The CBFs who do attend will decry everything.
    3. We will offend someone who probably needs to be offended.
    4. Lots of fried chicken will be consumed.
    5. Pastors will be looking for churches.
    6. Churches will be looking for pastors.
    7. Lots of inordinate bragging takes place.
    8. Several pastors will be fired by their churches while they are at the convention (it really does happen, I've seen it), and find their bags and furniture sitting in the yard outside the parsonage.

I've heard of this happening, but have never personally seen it or known someone that it happened to.

By the way MajorB, I'm going to be in your area of the world soon, but over on the Missouri side.

My neighbor in Corinth is a SBC pastor, he used to joke that if he ever went to the church building and saw there was a meeting of the deacons that he didn't know about, he would leave the car running and pointed out of the driveway.

And they'll probably wait until their own meeting at the end of this month to do so.

There will definitely be some discussion about the recent NAMB decision concerning women chaplains.

I foresee a great debate over the next president. It ought to be as close as '79 (when the Christians voted to have a Christian as president). [IMG]

    OK, Chicken Tacos.

What is a Baptist Preachers belt?

A leather fence around a chicken graveyard...

Actually, the worst I saw was this. A formerly large church with a large facility voted to dissolve the church and sell the property to a large charismatic congregation, while their pastor was away at the convention.

They will whine and cry foul from the floor when the microphones are open. They will continue at their meeting at the end of the month (as you indicate). Then they will keep on for about the next 5 or 6 years. ;)

Since the sitting president will probably again be elected by acclamation, I wonder if the "college of cardinals" have decided who their candidate will be next year

ExxonMobil--Keep your eyes on Johnny Hunt--pastor of First Baptist, Woodstock, GA--or Ronnie Floyd, from First, Springdale, AR. Up and coming pastor in the distant future--keep your eyes on a pastor named Steve Gaines from First,Gardendale in Birmingham, AL

Lots of good ultri-conservatives to throw into the predenancy for years to come.

    Your buddy,
    Blackbird

Steve Gaines is a great man. I get to watch him on tv most sunday mornings. Gardendale Baptist Church in Gardendale is known as a church that worships God in Spirit and truth.

I actually thought our "own" Blackbird and Daniel David would be good candidates for SBC president in the future [IMG]
