Well good folks, which way do you want it.

Months ago I gave a thread a title and a whole bunch of people jumped all over me about the title.

Recently I posted an article from The Economist and copied the title directly from the article. The exact title was:

    http://www.economist.com/displayStory.cfm?story_id=12931660&source=most_commented

and a bunch of people got all hot and bothered and shouted at me for using the word "frat." Well, folks, it was not my title. I guess those who yelled at me didn't even bother to click on the link to see what that the title really did come from the magazine.

So which way do you want it ... do you want me to:

    1. make up a title
    2. quote the title as it appears in a publication
    3. or edit the title so sensitive people will find it more acceptable?

    Which do you want?

I've done the same thing. I don't know what else to do when you are quoting an article - I think it's the best representation of what you are doing.

Well, I do know what else to do, but I think using the title is best.

I chuckled at the truth of your statement. You are a wise fellow. Thanks.

Try saying cheers without your mouth widening in the form of a smile! In a normal voice, usually your cheeks rise as the mouth widens. It is the most common form of greeting in the UK.

    Cheers,

    Jim

If it's the given title of an article, I would go ahead and use it.

I guess it could be worse. You could have accidently left off the "r" in "frat" and that really would have caused an uproar!

Well, since I copy and paste the titles ... every since I was lashed for putting my own title on a thread ... I don't think that will happen.

It does seem to me that if a person is offended by a title they would at least click on the link to see if the title is as it appears in the article, or if it was edited. It became obvious to me that those who screamed the loudest had not bothered to check ... just to scream.

Wonder if they will apologize to me.

The title was disrespectful, but I won't smack you with my rolling pin since you didn't make it up yourself.:tongue3:

He could apologize for his dishonesty on that thread, instead of coming down here & whining about it.

I would have just used "George Bush's legacy" as the title.

It doesn't matter whether it was original to Crabby or not. The title was typical of what he generally posts which are slams on his favorite whipping boy. After all the "Frat Boy" has ruined the United States reputation in Prague. Oh, the humanity!!

I thought others might be interested in the view from England and Europe.

Did you read the article? There were quite positive comments about Bush. From your comment I guess you didn't bother to read the article ... just judge.

Will you criticize those who never have a kind word to say about Obama?

I am curious, do you find any of the negative thread titles about Obama distasteful?

You give the apperance of being objective in your thinking and posts which gives rise to my picking at you. I apologize. And yes, many on this site are very one sided but at least they are clear about where they stand.

    Apology accepted.

As I did not make a comment, just gave the link, as I often do, I was simply posting it for information and comment. I believe we should read on all sides of an issue.

In the article I was surprised at how many positive comments there were. Living in Prague up to 6 or more months each year since 2005 and talking to people from all over Europe I have heard almost no positive comments on the Bush administration. It may surprise you, but I have even defended him on some issues while there.

Also, remember England and America are two countries separated by a common language. I am not sure what the English mean when they use the word Frat Boy. I know what it means here, but there it may be something different.

    Have a blessed day.

You can use a different title on an opininion like this one anytime you want. It's obvious by the title that it will be a biased piece and I didn't read it. It was obvious it would be a piece of trash article.

Depends on your purpose, but I think we all know what that is. But stay truthful and don't mislead. I know how hard that is for you.

On a hard news piece , stick with the title. Even then, a reporter's bias sometimes comes through.

You can't do much about the author's bias , but you can do something about yours.

As can we all friend, as can we all ... and that begins by reading on all sides of an issue.

Like I said, I did put in my own title once and was jumped on, screamed at and told not to do so again.

By the way, did you read the piece? If not you should as it does say some nice things about GB
