The distress is for person or nation, the code doesn't specify it's only a distree signal for a country.

Saggy is correct in that we have gone off topic. I just wanted to clarify that flying a flag upside isn't disrepectful.

Flying one's flag has nothing to do with the subject at hand in the thread

Please-----if you want to debate flags and the flying thereof----start another thread----and please show Christ like respect to fellow posters

I have decided to stay, but cut wayyyyy back on debate.

It is Ironic that this thread turned into what I was saying in the OP...
    Thanks for proving my OP.

BTW, thanks to the ones that have answered my question in the OP...
"What would it take for you to leave BB?"

For those that didn't answer, what would it take?

I think it would take boredom to run me off. I get irritated when the debate turns nasty; and especially irritated at new posters who come in here with both guns loaded from the get-go, without so much as a how-do-you-do.

I don't get upset, but I sort of roll my eyes every time a Calvinist/Non-Cal debate topic shows up, or one on eschatology. Here we go again, I think. Yet I'm drawn irresistibly to check them out, and sometimes I'll lob a mortar into the middle of it. i've been critical of drive-by posters, who drop in, fire off a couple of shots, and disappear. Then I realize that I do the same thing on occasion, and quite well, thank you..

But bored? Not yet. And just today, I read a comment on a scripture passage that produced the best of all my reactions: "Wow, I never saw that before." And a reminder once again that the word of God is ever-new, ever-fresh.

Those little gold nuggets keep me coming back, and insure that I'll rarely get bored. And so I'm here for a while.

The only time I ever took a few months off was after the thread "Clown Communion." That was so far out in left field it amazed me the concept would even come up for discussion.

These would never cause me to leave, but some of the subjects that make me have to watch what I say are things like those who claim to know the salvation of another individual based on a post, or a new poster, such as the one now in "Liberals and Abortion" that say abortion is not murder from the first post, and other such attitudes.

    TinyTim,

I am so pleased you are going to stay.

I don't know and can't think of any reason(s) why I would leave BB at the moment. It does take a lot of time and so I too have to restrict myself to devote more time to my studies.

    Blessings

If all the men on here started touting the garbage that if women would just submit, everything would be fine. There's a few here who seem to believe that whatever goes wrong would be right if the wife would just submit. If a woman is unhappy, or discouraged, or burned out, it's all her fault because she must be horribly unsubmissive. . .That's the kind of drivel I was raised with, that made me suicidal and almost cost me my life in my teens. So, whenever I see it here I TRY not to argue. It's not worth it to bring back all those memories, and I just get frustrated and angry.

If the bulk of the BB got this way, I'd be gone in a heartbeat. Fortunately, I've made many friends here who I respect, and who are an encouragement.

Whenever submission comes up in scripture, it is part of an equation regarding man's submission to God, and not a woman's surrender of her body and soul to whatever man may demand of her; equal respect is what I read.

    Cheers,

    Jim

If we saw you flying it upside-down on the battlefield you'd been SHOT!

What is so sad is that you would bring this into the public forum for the purpose to entrap others according to your opinion.

Your post has done nothing but is used as another occasion of reproach upon your brethren and a chance for the same ilk like yours to judge and condemn.

IO have heard this for years, "I'm the type to see what or how much it will take top make you quit or to leave!"

That remark in quotations is demonic in its very core.

I too am glad you're "staying", it isn't much fun debating with people who agree with me all the time. I think what you're complaining about is everyone doesn't agree with you all the time!:tongue3:

The flag flying upside down on a ship is a sign of distress. There is an international code for flags and all countries generally follow that code.

For instance, the code dictates how a flag flies when more than one flag pole is used and other national flags are flying, or other state or provincial flags fly.

I can't recall ever carrying a flag when I was on the battlefield in Korea. There was a flag at the home base and at the field hospital, but we never had room to carry a flag and fight as well.

    Cheers,

    Jim

These pages from the Bible might well be something Salamander would see as examples of a "flag flying upside down" - Or at least are not to be considered as "The Bible" - (By his own admission and definition, BTW)
