What does it mean when you say, "I am an American?"

Legally - that you are a citizen of the United States

Otherwise - it depends on how you look at it
Over on FB, someone posted a picture of a many who bought dozens of pizzas to give to the homeless. - It said "HIt LIke if you think this man is doing good". I replied "Negative " I suggested that he should also have had the homeless help with serving, clean up, and ect.

So who is a better American - that man who gave away dozens of pizzas (aka enabling)
or myself who insists that a person work for what they recieve (aka tough love)

Salty, I had hoped this thread would not degenerate into a thread of people judging others.

I was interested what people mean when they say, "I am an American."

I think you had hoped just the opposite.
