Ex 32:33 And the LORD said unto Moses, Whosoever hath sinned against me, him will I blot out of my book.

Re 3:5 He that overcometh, the same shall be clothed in white raiment; and I will not blot out his name out of the book of life, but I will confess his name before my Father, and before his angels.

HP: Here are two texts that clearly imply one can be blotted out of Gods book and why one can be blotted out, as well as a promise not to be blotted out if one is in the end an overcomer. Does God keep two sets of books? How might these verses impact ones theology?

I believe there is one book of life from the foundation of the world containing the names of every person ever to be created.

All have sinned, so if this text means everytime one sins God is blotting out their name it would necessitate that all are condemned forever. Thus enter the atonement for sin, Jesus Christ. Those who trust in Him will not have their names blotted out of the book of life.

So the blotting out must be a final judgment. Whether the person rejected God in unbelief or not.

As for "overcoming", the scripture is self-explanatory...

1Jo 5:4For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world, [even] our faith.

Simply beautiful! This is Eternal security in Christ!

The beauity of ESIC text are they need no fanciful exegesis. WOW! "For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world". What a promise from God!

How can anyone argue with God on this?

Thanks for posting this brother.

HP: Would to God you believed and took that passage at face value. Is it not your position it is ‘impossible’ for a believer to overcome sin in this present world?? Some overcomer you are picturing. Is it not your position that no amount or kind of sin in a believer’s life can separate him from his relationship with Christ?? You may indeed picture a system of necessitated fatalism/deterministic election, but from what I understand of your position it certainly does not reflect a true overcomer in any Biblical sense of the word.

With man, overcoming is impossible on the perfection level your pov necessitates, but All things are possible with God. Praise him!

Just meditate on these words brother. They are a sweet blessing! Don't miss out on the blessing you have in Christ.

1Jo 5:4For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world, [even] our faith.

    How about this one...

1Pe 1:5Who are kept by the power of God through faith unto salvation ready to be revealed in the last time.

    Just beautiful!!!

Embrace it HP and experience the freedom that Jesus promised you!

Your life in Christ will turn upside down.

HP: Being kept preserved blameless until the coming of our Lord is one thing, and the sinning religion espoused by so many yet another. 1Jo 2:4 He that saith, I know him, and keepeth not his commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him.

HP: And a hearty Amen to that statement. We can do nothing in and of ourselves. It takes God's help to rise above sin, without which we are doomed to failure. If anything good is found in us period, we owe everything of merit to God and God alone.

    AMEN again!

So let's not let a distorted view of "overcoming" creep into "by grace ye are saved through faith, and this not of yourselves, it is the gift of God, not of works lest any man should boast".

Is this saying that one who was saved, doesn't keep the commandments and then wasn't saved? Or is it saying that there are those who claim to be a believer yet they are a liar and the proof is in the pudding? I'd go with #2.

1 John 3:6 No one who remains in union with him keeps on sinning. The one who keeps on sinning HASN'T seen him OR KNOWN HIM.

HP: JK I want to believe you really mean what the Scriptures say here, but let me ask you something. Is it possible for a believer to be free from sin in this present world? You should know full well why I am asking. Are you going to try and tell us that 'positionally' we are free from sin yet it is impossible for us to live above sin in this present world? If so, I would respectfully say that you do not believe the Word of God as you have quoted it. I hope I am wrong.

I don't believe the word of God? So you have such spiritual eyes to tell me this?

JK my comments were an open door for you to prove me wrong. Did I have you pegged or was I wrong in my gut feeling as to what you in reality believe?

Certainly I was trying to get you to consider your true sentiments, and IF they are found in contrast to the plain wording of that text, to consider rethinking your position. :)

I showed you the plain scriptures. You are a person who feels they might betray the Lord in the future so your theology fits.

"Does The Lord Keep Two Sets Of Books"?

Perhaps we have it backward. Perhaps every human that has ever lived had their name in the book. Those who rejected the Lord had their name blotted out with more to follow, vice having their name put in the book once they become saved.

    ...Just a thought.

HP: You and DHK need to PowWow, or better yet just read some of your posts over the last few months.

Let me ask you JK, can you stop sinning in this present world?

HP: So the Book of Life is just a rooster of all human beings? Do sinners cease to be human beings when they sin? I thought (according to all that believe in original sin) they were all born that way. If they were all in the book to start with, how can their names be written down once they become saved??? I would believe you need to take your thoughts on this issue back to the drawing board.
    :)
