To Diet

This is a humorous poem I wrote and am sure a lot of people can relate to this story poem... Brother Glen

My wife said my dear, let me make myself clear
I can no longer keep quiet
You let yourself go and you know
You need to go on a diet.
Now I admit I’m in shape… Round
But I’ve also found… I’m nice, friendly and wise
It chills me to the bone… And I’m not alone
Many dudes don’t exercise
Besides its no fun, when they make you run
And they did in the U.S.M.C
She just shook her head
Looked at me and said
You know that was a loooong time ago!
She said I have a plan
Now you men understand
That this is not going my way
We are going to get slim
I signed US up for the gym
Our membership starts today.
If this was the end, I’d end it my friends
But she was just getting started
A word to the wise when you exercise
Your favorite yummies and you will be parted
To be lean, you must cherish greens
And veggies by the ton
Sugar… NO!... NO!
Soda… Uh… UHHHHH!
And I am just getting started
I know this is rude
Say goodbye to fast food
And forget pizza during the game
Water, and water, and water and water
Enough to wash you down the drain
I then cocked my head
Looked at her and said
Yes dear I have it quite clear
Now this is the end
Quite frankly my friends
She did the same thing last year
