    A Reminder:

Singing Churchmen of Oklahoma under the direction of Bill Green are going to Sydney, Newcastle and Brisbane, Australia, April 28-May 12.

One of the main focuses of the trip are concerts in all three cities, all of the proceeds from which will go toward establishing new churches in the respective areas. This is the largest trip of its kind in Baptist General Convention of Oklahoma history.

If you live in Australia, we hope that you have the opportunity to attend. As the youth would say, this singing group is "awesome"

I'm answering your post for Ed.

We sent an e-mail to our music minister who is a part of this group to answer your question.

    Here is his response:

I would characterize what we do as ‘eclectic’. We do spirituals, contemporary, classics, folks, and hymn arrangements just to name a few styles.

Is this someone from the Islington Baptist Church? I called them last evening (Tuesday afternoon their time) but they were in the midst of a funeral and am going to call again tonight.

    -------------------------------------------------

If you want to share your church, please PM me or Edifer.

I hope that you get to hear them sing. I believe our music minister plays in the orchestra.

    Betty

Actually Steve Irwin was well known in the US long before he was even moderately known in Australia

First time I remember hearing about Steve Irwin was when I visited mates in US back in 2000 [IMG] I watch his show now and then when it is on, just waiting for a whopper croc to jump on him one day :D

Hoges (Paul Hogan) was famous in Oz, until he churned out one dud movie after another [IMG]

The Singing Churchmen and wives left today on three planes out of Oklahoma City. They are on their way and should be arriving in Australia on Tuesday afternoon.

No wonder i couldn't find any scheduling
information. Seems that Sunday they will
be leading the music in a multitude of
    churches in Australia.

The Choir director of my church will be
in Newcastle, but which church there?

We are putting updates about the trip on our church Web Site:

    http://alamedabaptist.tripod.com/

We are as excited as if we are a part of the trip. This way we can share through the internet.
