I don't even know what that means. Is the non-humane way to slowly roll your foot over them so you can hear them crunching? (that visual just grossed me out, lol)

The Jains have been around a lot longer than that. </font>
They are a much different bunch than PETA, don't their beliefs basically stem from Hinduism?
If I believed in reincarnation, I'd be less apt to squash a bug too.

German cockroaches don't crunch so much as squish - gluey kablooey *shudder*

But yes, squashing is quick & relatively painless unlike pulling the legs & wings off of something. I read somewhere that roaches live a while headless and even perform better in the mazes - who thought up that experiment and if its headless, does it feel pain? Ugh.

Well yeah, good point.

Wringing off the head is not torture. </font>
No its not torture to feel the muscles ripping apart in the neck and feel the tendons as they twist and slowly snap. The feel of the blood veins ripping apart and feel of blood running into the neck. Nah, there ain't no torture there.

By the way, Ladyeagle, you never did answer whether or not you would test a very risky drug on a rat vs a human if there was even the slightest chance of coming up with a cancer preventing drug? Just curious.

He's the one who ordained how it should be done. I imagine He knows a thing or two about whether something is torture or not since He is the creator.

Amen. Some are just "done". It's so inhumane. If there is a justifiable reason, tr [IMG] uly justifiable, then so be it. But, be humane about it. After all....these are God's creatures. [IMG] [IMG]

Today the Dolphins Came to Play

Today the dolphins came to play
I watched them jump for joy
It seemed just then, they were wise old men
and I, a foolish boy

Atop the mighty waves they danced
to the rhythms of the moon
in harmony with the song of the sea
they played in perfect tune

Behind me fast cars rushed on by
towards some other time and place
What wonders do we never see
that stare us daily in the face?

Today the dolphins came to play
I never felt so small
and yet so grand, bare feet in the sand
a vital part of all...

A bird flew inside the sky
to avoid acid rain

There it found refuge deep
within a secret astral plane

Reserved for nature's fallen
and true lovers of mankind

A place that arrogance and
destruction will never, ever find

Because it's blind

To universal beauty...

Lady Eagle,

Though it seems tradgic animals die uselessly,
it's more tradgic for those that can't see the
beauty God gave to us in the form of a planet
and functional ecosystem.

Certainly these dolphins are now with Him!

</font>
That is a good article LadyEagle. Believe it or not I am not condoning the needless torture of animals, but even though this article points to alternatives, there are sometimes NO alternatives and animal testing is the only true way to protect human life. When it comes to an animal or my grandson, the animal is going to win each time. My guess is that you and I are on the same track here. Needless torture is wrong.

I saved a kitten that our neighbors left in a stack of tires. I kept hearing him crying and finally found him three days later, starved with his eyes closed. I helped the pound find the culprit and charge him with cruelty to animals and I also found a home for the kitten and now he is the best friend of a handicapped lady who is wheel-chair bound. Both the cat and the lady care for each other very much. It hurt me a lot to see the kitten starving and thinking that it might not live, but I knew we were okay when I started giving it formulae with a syringe and it gulped it down. Three days, ripped away from its mother and brothers/sisters left in a stack of tires to die. Now, that is just plain wrong.

I applaud your efforts in saving the kitten, Phillip. Oftentimes, how we treat animals is an indicator of what kind of person we are, what we are made of, and what kind of character flaws we may have.

I believe God gave us pets for a good reason - if nothing else, they serve to show us the kind of agape love that God has for us. Pets love us no matter what, even if we are having a bad day, if we are sick, if we are lonely, and they are there for us through the good times, too. They require so little, just shelter and food and occasional loving kindness. Yes, God created humans higher than the animals in the chain of life, (though that may be debatable to some based on the depravity of mankind), but with that higher creation of us, comes a higher responsibility to care for the rest of God's creation. That was what Adam was to do, even giving the animals names, and that was before the Fall.
