Number 10 Only in America could politicians talk about the greed of the rich at a $35,000.00 per plate political campaign fund-raising event.

Number 9 Only in America ...could people claim that the government still discriminates against black Americans when they have a black President, a black Attorney General and roughly 20% of the federal workforce is black while only 14% of the population is black 40+% of all federal entitlements goes to black Americans - 3X the rate that go to whites, 5X the rate that go to Hispanics!

Number 8 Only in America...could they have had the two people most responsible for our tax code, Timothy Geithner (former head of the Treasury Department) and Charles Rangel (who once ran the Ways and Means Committee), BOTH turn out to be tax cheats who are in favor of higher taxes.

Number 7 Only in America...can they have terrorists kill people in the name of Allah and have the media primarily react by fretting that Muslims might be harmed by the backlash.

Number 6 Only in America...would they make people who want to legally become American citizens wait for years in their home countries and pay tens of thousands of dollars for the privilege, while they discuss letting anyone who sneaks into the country illegally just 'magically' become American citizens (probably should be number one).

NUMBER 5 Only in America....could the people who believe in balancing the budget and sticking by the country's Constitution be thought of as EXTREMISTS.

Number 4 Only in America...could you need to present a driver's license to cash a check or buy alcohol, but not to vote.

Number 3 Only in America...could people demand the government investigate whether oil companies are gouging the public because the price of gas went up when the return on equity invested in a major U.S. Oil company (Marathon Oil) is less than half of a company making tennis shoes (Nike).

Number 2 Only in America... could you collect more tax dollars from the people than any nation in recorded history, still spend a Trillion dollars more than it has per year - for total spending of $7-Million PER MINUTE, and complain that it doesn't have nearly enough money.

Number 1 Only in America...could the rich people- who pay 86% of all income taxes - be accused of not paying their "fair share" by people who don't pay any income taxes at all.

Number 9--the government doesn't discriminate against people. People don't claim the government discriminates against people.

Number 8--the person most responsible for tax policy is David Camp (R). Rangel has not been the chairman of the House Ways and Means committee since 2010.

    Number 7 is patently untrue.

Number 5--I don't know of anyone that calls someone that wants to balance the budget an extremist.

Number 4--Voting without needing a drivers license is a constitutional right. Presenting a driver's license (or a photo ID) to vote is a requirement in several states.

Number 3--people demanded that the government investigate the tax loopholes, tax breaks, and subsidies given to oil companies.

Number 2--on a per capita basis the U.S. does not collect more money from the people, it is not spending $1 trillion more than it takes in (the budget deficit is projected to be $609B).

Number 1--the rich, the top 1%, pay 35% of all income taxes, not 86% of all income taxes.

    This does not address it.

    No its not.

    That is what it said.

    So says you.

So are you suggesting that neither one of them never had any influence over tax policy?

It's practiced by businesses, colleges, etc. but NOT the government. People are not complaining about the government being discriminatory.

(re: your links to articles about retaliations)
Your OP alleged that the PRIMARY reaction of the media was to fret that there might be retaliations against Muslims. It's not a primary reaction. It is a secondary concern, and rightly so.

(re: your links about balancing the budget)
Your links say that the plan to balance the budget--only spending cuts with no increases in tax revenue--is viewed as an extreme plan. The idea of a balanced budget is not considered extreme.

Yes, yes, we know you don't think voting is a constitutional right. The 15th amendment, the 19th amendment, and the 26th amendment say otherwise.

No, the OP says that people were calling for an investigation of price gouging by the oil companies, when in fact the investigation was into tax loopholes, tax breaks, and subsidies.

So says the facts. Or are you contending the budget deficit is going to be $1 trillion? That the U.S. is the most taxed nation on earth?

Oh, and I made a mistake. The projected budget deficit is not going to be $609 Billion, it's going to be $506 Billion, or about half what the OP claimed.
    http://www.nytimes.com/2014/08/28/u...mate-for-fiscal-year-to-506-billion.html?_r=0

And here is a table showing a list of countries and their highest income tax rates. By my reckoning the U.S. is 30th on the list.

    http://www.kpmg.com/global/en/servi.../pages/individual-income-tax-rates-table.aspx

Timothy Geithner, no, not really. Charles Rangel had influence when he was the chair of the Ways and Means committee, but tell me--what income tax increases and other tax increases did they impose?

And you totally side-stepped the glaring error of "the rich pay 86% of all income taxes" when it's really 35%.

Here's a top 10 list of other things in America that could be seen as stupidity:

    10. Only in America could politicians from one party talk about how a President has accomplished nothing, while they have denied most of his legislative action.

    9. Only in America could people complain about judicial legislation when the argument goes against their special interests, and then turn around use the same process to undo national healthcare laws.

    8. Only in America could a player in a sports league knock his girlfriend out and receive 2 games while a player who smokes a substance that is legal in his state receives 6 games.

    7. Only in America could military grade weapons be hand delivered to local police departments who have never faced any realistic threat from terrorists or heavily armed combatants.

    6. Only in America could a President win the Noble Peace Prize and then go on to involve our nation in three more conflicts.

    5. Only in America could a diplomat be killed on the 6 o'clock evening news two months before an election and it never be heard of again...until after the election.

    4. Only in America could someone complain about not getting their firearm fast enough.

    3. Only in America would a news channel seriously consult a Louisiana celebrity for his views on the rise of radical Islam.

    2. Only in America can systematic racism against two minority groups persist under the banners of protection and "they had it coming."

    1. Only in America can a handcuffed suspect shoot himself in the chest, just under the right peck, while sitting in the backseat of a police cruiser.

There is a TV show that begins, "You are being watched." American POW's held by Korean forces were subjected to leftist propaganda. The effort to alter their views and behaviors was dubbed "brain washing."

If you consider this thread, with obviously false and misleading claims posted by differing folks, you see how the "put them in psychological cells" process works. First, tell them what they thought was true, is not true. Disparage leaders, so that nobody trusts anybody. Say, "Whites are racists, Blacks are racists and Asians are the most racist of all." Hate monger, scapegoat, and claim one side is just as bad as the other.

    You are being brain washed....

The left can never be placated. Their list of grievances is endless and they always want more. One poster noted that American taxes are not the highest in the world--the Democrats have been saying that for 50 years or more that I know of. It seems as if the Democrats will never be happy until our taxes are the highest in the world. The Democrats have already destroyed vast sections of the middle class with the highest corporate tax in the world, and they still have 2 years left to continue Democrat deprivations. The original list in this thread stands as true.

All the complaining that black people are arrested more frequently than whites because of their skin color, and not because they commit more crime, must be imaginary then?

You haven't rebutted any of my factual information. Why don't you try to address my points instead of pronouncing the OP as truth?

Oh yeah, I'm not "the left".

    10. Only in America can a politician who actively campaigned for the job of President, claiming to have solutions for its problems, continue to blame his predecessor five years after acquiring the job and blaming the opposition party for blocking his agenda, even though he had a majority in both houses of the Congress for his first two years in office.

    9. Only in America can the majority party vote to shut down the government then blame the minority party for shutting down the government.

    8. Only in America can people complain that the government should stay out of their bedrooms and then demand that the government mandate that employers and insurance companies supply free birth control.

    7. Only in America can a politician who has driven the US national debt from $10 trillion up to $16 trillion in only four years confidently proclaim that he deserves another term--and get it.

    6. Only in America can the leader in space exploration and space technology be reduced to hitchhikers begging their former rival for a ride into orbit.

    5. Only in America can a politician who says he desperately wants to create jobs cancel a pipeline project that would employ 20,000 people.

    4. Only in America can the elected officials impose a budget sequester, or across the board spending freezes, because they can't reach an actual budget and spending plan. This is like having your college roommate hide your pot for a week so you can study and pass finals.

    3. Only in America can you have a political party claim their opposition wants to impeach the President while the opposing political party's leader has repeatedly said they don't want to, nor will they, impeach the President.

    2. Only in America can the President be criticized for not responding quickly enough to protect a diplomatic outpost in a country overrun by terrorists and then when he takes preemptive action to protect an embassy in another country overrun by terrorists, he gets criticized.

    1. Only in America can we be a nation of sheep, ruled by wolves, and owned by pigs.

Neo-cons don't believe in moderates. You are either hardcore Neo-con or bleeding heart liberal. Having a sense of persepective or the ability to look at situations on a case by case basis are frowned upon.
