I am not attacking you. I used to believe some of the Democrat lies myself decades ago. When you get to the bottom of the Democrats, what do they stand for?

As for your issues, the one about tax policy is an exaggeration, as you noted, but it does show the insincerity of the Democrats in that they could not really deal with two tax cheaters but they did go after Dinesh D'Souza over what under Bush was treated as a misdemeanor. But I never took the point about taxes as profoundly as you did.

So it doesn't bother you that a claim about the rich paying 86% of income taxes is a lie? You say "nothing the Democrats say is true" and you're willing to let that slide by?

And please point out the inaccuracies in my response to the OP.

The rich pay heavy taxes in relationship to their numbers. Reagan lowered the upper tax bracket rates but they need to be lowered more or we need to go to a flat tax. However, tax reform is impossible because accountants and lawyers make too much money off tax work and the law has a set-aside for many rich people.

The middle class, which has been destroyed in large numbers by the Democrats, picks up the rest of the tab, as the poor no longer make a contribution as they did years ago when everyone had to pay some taxes.

The Democrats favor progressive income tax. I don't.

Well, we mostly agree. If we're going to junk the progressive income tax for an alternative, I'd be more inclined to go with a consumption tax instead of a flat tax.

But I can't let "the rich pay 86% of all income taxes" slide by in a thread about stupidity!

Only have time to answer one right now

Where does the Constitution say you have a right to vote without showing a drivers license?

PS on # 1 - Rev didn't mention it was the top 1% - he said rich people.

That's like saying you have a right to vote without registering at least 30 days in advance of said election.

Salty, just for the sake of discussion, where does the Constitution say identification must be shown when voting. :saint:

It doesn't say that specifically. Let me rephrase. Voting is a constitutional right with age and citizenship being the only requirements mentioned in the constitution.

OK, fair enough. "The rich" is typically defined as the upper 1% or upper 2%. "The rich" if he defines it honestly, does not pay 86% of all income taxes.

I believe he posted this link several months ago, which shows that the upper 10% pay 68% of income taxes, still way short of 86%.

When it comes to federal taxes, in 2010 the top bracket paid 69 percent of the total . The bottom bracket paid 0.4 percent.

In reality, the top 40% of wage earners pay 100% of the federal income tax.

To those in the bottom bracket, everyone in the top 40% is "rich". Otherwise they would not insist they carry the entire tax burden for the nation.

What the problem is is that when someone posts something some people want to attribute all that is in that post or article to them as if they wrote it.

Usually this is done because they either do not like the person or they do not like their view on some things and they need a reason to demonize them.

So, is it unconstitutional to require people to register up to 30 days before an election?

Besides, it must be constitutional based on this SCOTUS decision

When 40% of working Americans pay NO Federal income tax (due to low income) anyone making more than them would be considered rich.

Now, what is YOUR definition of rich?

So it appears that someone else has taken on crabby's habit of backhanded accusations. Made out of anger it seems.

Stop playing the victim. You don't wear it very well. You have no problem doing drive by negative comments to people in threads you aren't even posting in. You are guilty of everything you just posted. The least you could do is take your lumps when you get your feelings hurt.

Actually, your 35% would have to be considered as ridiculously low as you believe the rev's 86% is ridiculously high.

As a matter of fact, for 2010, the CBO determined that "The rich do not pay the most taxes, they pay ALL the taxes".

Yes the constitution requires citizenship - but age is a different story.

The COTUS states 1. The right of citizens of the United States, who are eighteen years of age or older, to vote shall not be denied or abridged by the United States or by any State on account of age.
If a State or Commonwealth wanted to allow 15 year olds to vote - that would be legal.

Elections are run by states. See the 10th amendment.

I'll go with the upper 2%.

Most retired people don't pay any income tax (or very little). Is everyone richer than they are?

Supposing a multi-millionaire made his living on dividends and stocks. He has no federal income taxes (he pays capital gains taxes, though). Is everyone richer than he is?
