It depends on what you mean by "torture". Is with-holding sleep torture? Is refusing to allow them to know the time so they can "pray" at the right times torture? Is keeping them in a sound proofed, dark room torture?

If these are torture then you would be wrong about it not developing information, because they have. But pain just for the purpose of inflicting pain is what you mean, then the one being interrogated would admit to killing Lincoln.

    Very good point.

It seems that the liberal element of our society (particularly the BDS'ers) consider anything greater than waking a prisoner before dawn is "TORTURE".

It would seem wise to have a common understanding of terms before any solutions are considered!

According to the UN Convention against Torture, torture is defined as

Would these things be classified as causing severe pain and suffering? If not, then they're not torture.

Which of you is willing to test your theory that "we don't use torture" by allowing yourself to be "waterboarded"? Or maybe you'd prefer to be renditioned to an overseas CIA "black site" where no one knows "what goes on behind closed doors" to test your theory.

Sometimes I am ashamed that "Christians" are so-called and yet will align themselves against that which seems like a no-brainer regarding the morally just position and against the righteousness which God has expressed in our Scriptures...... ALL of which is of benefit for our instruction and application.

Unless 'a suspect' has already had opportunity within a lawful court to be presented with charges, witnesses and evidence, and to defend himself against such charges..... and has been found guilty..... both Biblically and by our secular institutions..... he is to be presumed 'innocent'.

Torture, that is, the infliction of physical harm or pain is immoral, and its basis is in paganism and human sacrifice.
