Does anyone out there have any suggestions?
I am searching for good traditional christian music. Something like the Morman Tabernacle Choir but founded in a scriptural doctrine. This is the only way I can describe what I am looking for (maybe it doen't exist) I want Classis Hymns and contemporary songs. When I ask in the record stores (both secular and christian)
without fail I am shown nothing but Southern Gospel or songs that are dominated by the orchestra or accompaniment of brass and percussion. Is there any such music?

Try the "America's 25 Favorite" series from Brentwood-Benson. There are at least four volumes of Praise and Worship CDs, several Hymns CDs, Instrumental, and others all within that series. All are classically arranged by Don Marsh, and most include full choir and orchestra. Hope this helps.

    Go to
    http://www.parable.com/parable/search.asp
and in title search type "america's 25".

If after more traditional arrangements (choir, organ, occasional Salvos [IMG] ) try the HymnMaker series from Kingsway Music..

I have 9 of the series [IMG]

Lillenas Music has always been a very good source for me. They have a very well-rounded selection.

    lillenas.com

They are VERY small church friendly, many arrangements that are useable by small choirs.

I have posted this link on other forums in Music Ministry and it's a good one for traditional old time Gospel hymns:

Well, I know two pretty good ministries where one can hear a wide variety of traditional Christian music. There is Family Radio Worldwide, which is well-known for Harold Camping's date-setting. (Sadly that's all the world knows it for). But it has the biggest best collection of music anywhere. The second is called Old Christian Radio.

Hope I helped even though this thread is 6 years old lol :type:

Several years ago the Masters Seminary and College recorded several cd's of songs of old hymns. Click hear for a few. If you order, make sure you get the cd.

I think they made four and we purchased them at the time. Good quality and good hymns.
