Um, I tithe, I give offerings, I give to missions, I work in the USA, God has blessed the USA, God has individually blessed my situation and my income, each attaining monies to be spent at my discretion, NOT the US governemts discretion.:godisgood:

Someone said something - and it's very true:

Evil exists because its inevitable defeat ultimately glorifies God.

Jesus' triumph over sin glorifies God.

maybe you should inspect your expectations next time before you spew forth.

No, it was typical of all the ones who came out of the "mother".

Next time he should go into, "And grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change and the wisdom to KNOW the difference"?

Evil is clearly defined in scripture. I did not write Scripture. It is not inspired by me, but by the Holy Spirit.

If you disagree with me then at least give what you believe is the correct interpretation of those verses.

I do not see anywhere that he named anyone. Jesus did the same thing in the gospels.

Why...does the Lord's prayer offend you?

I'm sorry, I don't have time to read all the posts here, so I don't know if someone addressed this point or not. But this bothers me greatly:

    1. We don't know if Dr. King is in heaven.
    2. Even if he is, there is no biblical support for saying people are up there observing us.
    3. This is a misuse of the passage about the "cloud of witnesses."
    4. They would not be shouting over Obama getting elected in heaven, no matter what one may think of him.

The only rejoicing we know of in heaven that I can think of is joy in the presence of angels when a sinner repents (Lk 15.10).

I think this is a gross twisting and misapplication of biblical statements.

And your thinking would be correct.

I agree with the above...the "King" line espouses poor theological reasoning.

But some of the charges leveled at this man are ridiculous.

I'd be interested, as well, if all of us had our prayers parsed as finely as he has. Would we be batting 1,000...every single word & phrase perfect?

If we were giving the prayer for the President's inauguration in front of 2 million people and broadcast over the world, yes.

It doesn't take a theologian to see the obvious prostrations to the spirit of the age in his prayer.

    "Parsed?" Puh-leeze!

God allowed man to sin, Why? He did not have to, but in His wisdom He allowed sin to enter into the world for a purpose. In that His purpose was glorified.

In the condemnation of sin, the justice of God is glorified.
In the salvation of sinners the mercy and grace of God is glorified.
So, yes, God uses sin for His glory. That does not mean he originated it or delights in it, but through it He accomplishes His perfect will. If you don´t believe that you have a very small view of God, because it means that sin happened despite God´s plans to the contrary.

I don´t know what "hero" you are talking about. If you mean Warren, well I personally am not a fan of his.
