Translation in Progress?

Does anyone know about a new English translation of the Bible in progress (a translation that once again wants to become a "standard" version or something like that)?

You may be referring to the World English Bible or the Holman Christian Standard Bible, both of them available online. The following information is from my article History of the English Bible last updated August-September 2003.

The World English Bible and the Hebrew Names Version of the World English Bible are two works currently in progress. The WEB and HNV are in the public domain, and are based on the 1901 ASV, another public domain version. The WEB and HNV Bibles are under the auspices of Rainbow Missions, a non-profit organization based in Longmont, Colorado, USA. Rainbow Missions seeks no profit from either the WEB or the HNV. Computer programs did much of the initial steps of updating the ASV text, and volunteers are in the process of proofreading and offering suggestions for the WEB. The New Testament of the Holman Christian Standard Bible was published in 2000, with the entire Bible slated for print publication April 15, 2004. Recently there has been an advance version of the entire HCSB made available at the LifeWay web site. The HCSB is a new translation undertaken by Holman Bible Publishers, the publishing arm of the Southern Baptist Convention. Some have charged that the HCSB has the potential of being very Baptist-oriented, but the publishers say they are not making a Baptist Bible. The Southern Baptists are apparently proud of the HCSB as it is to appear in Sunday School literature beginning with the fall 2003 quarter. Also, Moody Press is using the new version in their Believer's Life System daily planner beginning in January, 2004. The HCSB has not had a chanve to find its real niche in the world of English Bibles, and only time will tell what influence the HCSB will have in the years to come.
