All the different versions are causing confusion in my Bible Study group.

I think there are too many versions out today which I feel makes for confusion when studying the Bible in group settings.

I agree that all these versions only lead to doubt about God's Word.

I think all the versions of Scripture in English are

    A. Unnecessary
    B. Cause confusion and division
    C. Cast doubt for new Christians on the inerrant nature of God's Word.
But then you say:

    [Baptist4life]

I'm very glad there are Bible studies going on, and I really am not too concerned about what version is being used... Getting in God's Word with a group of people can only be a good thing.
Do you now wish to repudiate what has been your constant refrain in the past?

B4L, do you now believe that other Bible translations such as the NIV are the Word of God? Because if you still think they are not the Word of God you have some problems with folks in your church and Bible study groups ( problems with the Lord too).

Do you want to take that back? Or do you want to continue to post what YOU THINK I believe? I NEVER said the NIV was not the Word of God. BTW, will you please quit being so obsessed with me? I suggest if want to continue to harrass me with what you THINK I believe, you do it through private IM's.

    BTW, this statement:

    [Baptist4life]

I'm very glad there are Bible studies going on, and I really am not too concerned about what version is being used... Getting in God's Word with a group of people can only be a good thing.

In no way contradicts these statements:

When and if you decide to "talk" to me in a Christian way with a Christian attitude, I'll answer you. Until then, I'll ignore you and your attitude towards anyone who dares disagree with you. God bless!

Then you would support a church using only the NIV in worship, study, and teaching? And you would affirm that the NIV is the Word of God in the same manner and scope that, say, the KJV is?

Yes. As I posted somewhere else, don't know which thread, my SS teacher, who is a very Godly man whom I admire greatly, uses the NIV to teach from, as do many of my church family.

I do believe that 1/2 dozen people using 1/2 dozen different translations can cause confusion when studying though. I would prefer that everyone uses the same translation simply because it makes it easier to follow along. However, I'm not going to change churches over it, as long as the Gospel is being presented and God is working in the church. My personal preference is the KJV because I've been using it for over 50 years, and I like it best. That is all. I defend the KJV when I think people are casting it aside because it is a very dear translation to me.

That's a fair and honest answer, and doesn't at all support a single-translation-onlyist viewpoint. I concur with your comment.

You're a trip. I quote your very own words and yet you say that I post what I think you believe.

In your very first post on the BB you trashed the NIV to the extent that your entire post was removed altogether.

On 6/2/07 you said :"I wouldn't give ya .02 for an NIV."

On 6/1/07 you said: "The NIV is a TERRIBLE translation."

On 6/2/07 you said : "I WANT THE TRUE Word of God... I DON'T think it IS in every MV... I also believe SOME MV's alter God's Word or leave something out. I DO NOT care for the NIV.

I have been slowly switching to the Holman Christian Standard Bible over the past year or so, though I still read it side by side with my KJV since that is what I have grown up with. I enjoy the reading the HCSB but I still find the beauty of the language in the KJV striking.
