Welcome to Troopergate, the latest scandal to befall Mrs Palin, until two years ago the mayor of a small town in Alaska with 6,700 people, and now running for the second-highest office in the nation.

Mrs Palin, 44, a moose-hunting, salmon-fishing former beauty queen, can barely afford more controversy. On Monday, a mere three days after her appointment as John McCain’s running-mate was announced, she revealed that her 17-year-old daughter was pregnant and would marry the father. The revelation dominated the TV news, while “Palin” and “pregnant” became two of the most searched-for terms on Google.

Now, with an official report by Alaska’s state legislature pending into Mrs Palin’s handling of the Wooten case, fears are heightening within the Republican Party’s election machine that Troopergate could prove more damaging. Worse, the publication of the report could become an “October surprise” — political shorthand for the PR disasters that occasionally torpedo presidential campaigns in the month before the polls open.

I'm guessing we'll see a lot of attacks on Palin from the southern men who must still believe a woman's place is in the kitchen. Sad.

Some people would support a <inappropriate languange deleted - LE> if it says it is a Republican. She can do now wrong in Republicans eyes.

Why single out southern men? I have in-laws in OH and PA who hold to a view like you experss here just as tightly, if not more so, than any southerner in my family.

Well, I'm just turning it around on all the people who said the only reason anyone could have for disliking Obama is because he's black. You are right, there are misogynists all over the place, it's just one southern one piping up.

    Ken,

This is the third thread you have started on this same topic since she was announced as McCain's VP choice. One is now on page 3 of this forum and the other is on page 2. Why the multiple threads on the same topic?

Kinda bad when you quote European links to tell anti-american stories. Some folks could stand a patriot check.

Say what? This isn't anti-American. It is anti-Republican. In this year's election the patriotic thing to do, IMO, is to be anti-Republican and put an end to the past 8 years' reign of error.

There are rumors of emails and a phone call. I will wait for proof of those before I past judgment. Doesn't sound like anyone but the die hard liberals care so it won't hurt her in the polls. None of them were voting for her anyway.

Not really. You should read the London Times and other foreign newspapers online occasionally. After all they do not need to pander to American advertisers and mute the news as often happens here.

    We expect nothng more form a liberal rag like Times but the truth is there is no scandal for Palin on this issue. The facts are that the trooper was not fired for political views but for conduct that was contrary to his position as a trooper;

Troopers eventually investigated 13 issues and found four in which Wooten violated policy or broke the law or both:

    • Wooten used a Taser on his stepson.

    • He illegally shot a moose.

    • He drank beer in his patrol car on one occasion.

    • He told others his father-in-law would "eat a $%^& lead bullet" if he helped his daughter get an attorney for the divorce.

    More Here

Again your ignorance is showing. Liberal in Europe and England is very different from what liberal is in the States. What makes you think The Times of liberal in the American sense of the word? What makes you think The Times is liberal in the European sense of the word?

I have no concern for the European definition of the world liberal. I do know that American libs work hard to separate themselves from that term just as those who hold to Marxist policies work equally hard to separate themselves from Karl Marx.

If the election is over Ken, why do you keep digging for more specks of dirt.

There must just be a beam or two in the eye of the guy in your avatar that you might consider examining.

A nonstory, will be forgotten by the end of the week,
