    Right, you want to distinguish that one is a claim, and the other is not. You can't though, because it doesn't make sense in answering my question.

    What is the difference between BEING saved... and BEING truly saved.

    The truthful answer is, there is only ONE way to salvation.

    You can't BE "truly saved", as opposed to just plain old "saved"

    All you can ever do is claim to be "truly saved".

    Think we can and have differing maturity levels , as some are babes in chrsit, others matured, and others for a season even acting as carnal christians!

    All saved, just behaving differently from each other!

    Personally, I think that "saved for a season" most likely means not saved. Perhaps we can remain "babes in Christ," but there are also tares among the wheat.

    I'm just plain ole saved...truly. :smilewinkgrin:

    How about just plain ol' diligence to make our calling and election sure? :)

    1 Simon Peter, a servant and apostle of Jesus Christ, to them that have obtained a like precious faith with us in the righteousness of our God and the Saviour Jesus Christ:
    2 Grace to you and peace be multiplied in the knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord;
    3 seeing that his divine power hath granted unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that called us by his own glory and virtue;
    4 whereby he hath granted unto us his precious and exceeding great promises; that through these ye may become partakers of the divine nature, having escaped from the corruption that is in that world by lust.
    5 Yea, and for this very cause adding on your part all diligence, in your faith supply virtue; and in your virtue knowledge;
    6 and in your knowledge self-control; and in your self-control patience; and in your patience godliness;
    7 and in your godliness brotherly kindness; and in your brotherly kindness love.
    8 For if these things are yours and abound, they make you to be not idle nor unfruitful unto the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.
    9 For he that lacketh these things is blind, seeing only what is near, having forgotten the cleansing from his old sins.
    10 Wherefore, brethren, give the more diligence to make your calling and election sure: for if ye do these things, ye shall never stumble:
    11 for thus shall be richly supplied unto you the entrance into the eternal kingdom of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. 2 Pet 1

    IME, there is a joy (apart from anything else in this world) to be had in working out one's own personal salvation with Christ; the unregenerate can never know this joy.

    Think saved is saved, as God ONLY does "really saved!"

    Now can a saved act for a time unsaved again, or sin after that, yes, but difference is the saved will confess/repent and see it as NOT being what they now are, while unsaved stay in it, that IS what they are!

    Only if you believe in multiple ways of getting to heaven.

    If that's the case, then what does "saved" mean?

    Either we are born from above, or still dead in our sins!

    What if you are….like…super-duperly saved? Do you have salvation to spare….or are you just Reformed?

    "truly saved" - perhaps bringing attention to the manner/quality of life after being saved :

    Matthew 13:23 But he that received seed into the good ground is he that heareth the word, and understandeth it; which also beareth fruit, and bringeth forth, some an hundredfold, some sixty, some thirty.

    Intuitively the one bringing forth 100fold could be called "truly saved" while the 30fold would just be "saved"?

    Tongue-in-cheek: Yes.

    Not tongue-in-cheek is the picture of the maturing Christian as the Father and Son bring him/her growth as in the quantity/quality of fruit production in John 15 (fruit, more fruit, much fruit).

    Much fruit - it is the one mentioned which glorifies God, not much question about the reality of the profession of faith of this one.

    No. One can't be "more saved" than he/she already is. The result of greater fruit is greater reward, not "greater salvation."

    Agreed and that what I thought I had said in different words. I never said "more saved".

    "truly saved" is not the same as saying "more saved".

    "truly saved" in the context of this thread meaning "more evidence" (fruit bearing) of salvation not more salvation.

    But nonetheless, thanks for your correction TNID, you probably cleared up a difficulty in semantics for some when I possibly clouded the issue.

    Oft times Christ would say, verily verily I say unto you, so today in this mixed up religious world he might say, A truly saved person. Oh yea, He did say it. A Israelite INDEED, in whom is no guile.

    Well, from where I stand ....

    .... it depends on which part of the country you live in, and the vernacular or the characteristics of ones local language, which determines by how a group of people speak .. for instance, in the southern part of the USofA ... versus, let's say, them thar Yankees up north! :thumbs:

    Saved is saved. Truly, just, definitely, most assuredly, wonderfully, miraculously, awesomely, radically, tremendously, or spiritually ... saved is still saved! :type:

    correct, as the sinner who God reaches and saved on their death bed just as saved as Apsotle paul/peter, its just that they had MANY more good works and eternal rewards the lord has for them, while other person got into heaven, as if by fire!
