If US energy costs remain low we may see entrepreneurs getting back into the textile/garment industry.

Obama and Hillary have both said they wanted to put the coal industry out of business, and they meant it. If the next administration doesn't smother the energy boom with regulation we may see many industries come back to life, in spite of China's tactics.

You have a real problem here. You continuously rail against jobs leaving the country. When someone tries to stop that or bring them back, you cry about price increases.

Make up your mind, if you can find it.

Any tax on imports should be matched by at least that much tax decrease on domestic production, so no one should complain about the price of imports going up. Pay a dollar more there, pay a dollar less here, we break even.

If it costs US manufacturers only $1.50 more to make a shirt than Chinese made shirts, why don't American companies compete right now?

I've already answered that several times in several different ways. A $1.50 is a significant cost for most shirts.

I've already pointed out that American made shirts routinely retail for $100 to $125. If a Chinese made shirt can be bought by a chain store for $8.00 and an American made shirt bought for $9.50, why can't the American made shirt be priced at $40 and say MADE IN USA all over the packaging and positioned right next to the Chinese shirt priced at $35?

In this instance the Chinese shirt would be a 77 margin product, and the USA shirt would be a 76 margin shirt. Isn't that being competitive?

If we believe your assertion that a USA shirt only costs $1.50 more to make than a Chinese shirt, then the retail price of $125 means the USA made shirt is a 92.4 margin item. That's a nice profit margin.
