Trump cuts new Pence logo from campaign website

The Trump for President campaign unveiled the new campaign logo on Friday, July 15, 2016. (Photo: Donald J. Trump for President via AP)

It didn’t take long for presumptive Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump to realize that his new, eyebrow-raising logo might not have been the best move.

By Saturday morning, within a day of its unveiling, the new logo had been ridiculed endlessly on social media, and the Trump campaign had it removed from the official website.

The logo was intended to celebrate Indiana Gov. Mike Pence joining the GOP ticket as Trump’s running mate. But it couldn’t even be seen on the “Donate” page of his website alongside the news of Pence.

The Daily Kos political blog was among the first to notice that the Trump campaign apparently had given up on the new design.

The much-maligned logo, which was introduced Friday, featured an interlaced “T” and “P” in blue, with red and white stripes stretching to the right to represent a stylized U.S. flag.

It was instantly mocked on social media for having the “T” pass through the hole of the “P” in a manner that some considered sexually suggestive. Others joked that “T.P.” stands for toilet paper.

Comedian Samantha Bee, the host of “Full Frontal” and a “Daily Show” alum, shared a GIF on Twitter in which the “T” repeatedly thrusts down into the P, causing the bottom red stripe to bounce up and down. It was captioned, “Breaking the mattress of America.”

And she wasn’t alone in that interpretation.

Trump's campaign can't even roll out a logo with competence.

Trump's introduction of Pence yesterday was a bizarre rambling "speech" about himself for almost a half an hour whereupon he called Pence onto the stage and then promptly left. There were no Trump/Pence signs to be seen.

Here's how Trump staged the GOP candidates first dual interview for 60 Minutes. Looks like Liberace's parlor.

Your continued prideful interests in the Left's perverted thoughts toward a logo really serves no purpose on a Christian forum other that such behavior should be condemned. But you should know that we know that is not your intent...

To me it looks more like the Sun King, Lewis the 14th. The Sun King loved to boss people around. He cared nothing for the poor, other than what he could get out of them for himself. In his heart-of-hearts I am sure Trump believes in the devine right of kings. I guess now it would be the devine right of the rich.

That is consistent. Louis the 14th

Yet another good demonstration about the difference between the left and the right - that logo was only perverted to a perverted mind, leave it to them to make a logo into something sexually suggestive. Trump had to change it because half the nation has the mentality of a fifth-grader.

Are you speaking of those who support him? It is the lesser educated where he draws the vast majority of his support. I assume you realize that.

No, I'm speaking of anyone who looked at that logo and saw something dirty in that. To spoof the logo is just taking it a step further. Educational levels are probably non-applicable, childishness and ignorance don't always go together.

The least and most educated Americans support your party, the others don't.

I did not see the original logo and do not care to do so. My comment of Louis th 14th was in response to the photo posted with Trump and Peance seated in Louis the 14th, or maybe it was Louis the 16th chairs. Louis the 16th was quite famous also, though he came to a bad end.

I would like to see your links supporting the myth you mentioned in the least you educated. Everything I have read says the least educated support the GOP and Trump. Logically this makes no sense, but it seems to be true.

Will you provide some links from credible sources showing the least educated do not support Trump. Thanks.

I wasn't referring to you or French kings, I was merely saying that this logo's lewdness was in the mind of the beholder but the uproar is a commentary on the sad state of the nation.

The other thing, that's the way it's always been, so why should it change now?

I didn't see anything perverted in the logo but I did see a simplistic logo that could have been designed by a 6th grader. It just looked unprofessional to me.

So that's twice in a week that Mr. "I'm Not Politically Correct" has withdrawn an image from his campaign after people have complained about it.

The subject of the tread is the logo. The point made was the mentality of those who suggest perverted thoughts about it. It is undeniable "WHO" it is that is responsible for resorting to that kind of tactic. Therefore, logically it makes no sense to chase after your off-topic smokescreen designed to deny this simple observation.

Like I said, the behavior should be condemned here, plain and simple, but instead we see a cloud being offered to cover up the action...

Yeah, I did see the original and didn't see anything wrong with it, until I saw some snide liberal snickering at it on CNN and did a double-take.

Still can't decide if they did the right thing by pulling it - doing so was not that much of a surrender to PC IMO but if he hadn't pulled it, the left would've been relentless with promoting their obscene sense of humor. Maybe it was the decent thing to do, all this considered.

But it was sort of simplistic, like Graphics Art 101 and so is Hillary's boring logo with the arrow.

My first double-take was to Zaac's rejoicing about the possibility of of such humor.

They (those attempting to support of anything the Left does or says) just want to ignore that fact and change the focus to posting links about party education rather than admitting and condemning the action.

On the OP the human mind always attempts to make sense of graphics. What is seen reflects how the viewer observes the world. If I had seen the original prior to the flap I would not have seen anything "naughty" in the placement of the T and P. Frankly I see the whole flap a bit funny.

Concerning the uneducated and the under-educated supporting Trump. This makes me think of Cornwall in England. The voters in Cornwall went heavily in favor of leaving the EU. Cornwall is a region where the majority are basically not very educated. Now that they have woken up to how they will suffer with the UK out of the EU they are begging for EU funding to continue coming to them. I truly believe this will be the case of the under-educated in this country if Trump wins. They will have strongly voted for him, but will hate and scream at what it will cost them in the long run. Yes, they, like Cornwall, will have poked the politicians in the eye without realizing it until it is too late that they themselves have stepped with both feet on boards of nails. They will be painfully stuck, but it will be too late.

Light, I am speaking of the general election, not the way lesser educated Republicans voted in the primaries. Now this election could break a trend where those with a high school diploma or less break for Trump but that would be a huge demographic switch and would deliver Trump a win right there.

CTB, what in the world are you talking about Cornwall and Brexit? They're not regretting their vote just like you don't regret your votes for Obama. The thing there was, In 2015 the UK government paid £13 billion to the EU budget, and EU spending on the UK was £4.5 billion. A lot of the latter figure was spent in Cornwall and now they want the UK to give them the money the EU gave them instead of getting it from the EU. They are not asking for EU to continue funding the region. The op is so wrong and misleading itself, based on false idea, so the writer is either disingenuous himself or uneducated in his own right.

And trying to help a fellow traveler again, of course. The American left is made up a bunch of factions, the perverts among them that made the logo obscene are probably part of the secular humanist/atheist wing.

OK, understand. There could be a lot of blue collar democrats crossing over in the general. I wonder if it will be enough for Trump to win?
