I agree, but the picture is sad.

We must remember that a lot of third-world people are not only uneducated, but pretty much brainwashed. Remember, they have nothing, live in poverty and/or just survive, while we sit under our air-conditioners and enjoy our motor boats, etc. Many of these people do not know any better and to them, we are the big Satan of the western world. [IMG]

I don't mean to sound like that is right, but we have never lived in their shoes and after visiting 3rd world countries I completely understand their lack of understanding. [IMG]

Hopefully our aid (as it increases) will change the mind of these ignorant people.

Remember, love our enemies. I for one, will pray for the man in the picture and hope he not only finds relief from his pain, but finds the true path to heaven. (I don't want to sound egotistical, by saying I will pray for him, I suggest we all on this board do the same thing. The power of prayer is unreal. . . literally. [IMG]

 I think it would be timely in view of the recent events that the Gospel we believe and seek to spread is indeed inclusive as Jesus Christ declared that He was in John 14:6.It is indeed sad to know that most of the people that perished in these terrible Tsunamis were lost and went off into eternity without knowing the only Lord and Saviour and His redemption.Jesus Christ is the ONLY way of salvation to this lost and dying world and the devastating loss of so many people ought to bring us all to our knees.Prophetic bible truth teaches that as the last days approach we will see more and more of these terrible events happening which is all the more reason that we should,as the Word of God says in Titus 2:12,13"Teaching us that denying ungodliness and worldly lusts,we should live soberly, righteously, and Godly in this present world;looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God,and our Saviour Jesus Christ."Time is getting short.God help us all to get serious about our faith.

    Greg,

I would point out that there have been much worst disasters in history long before the Tsunami hit. This would be quite tame compared to the great Flood of the whole earth, The death of every first born in Egypt, the destruction of Sodom and Gommorah. In the Medeival Times there was the Black Death which killed I think around 24 million people. This event is not nessecarily a sign that the end is near. It also could be that there have been many horrible events throughout history that might have made us say the same kinds of things long ago. I think the difference is today that these events are made to seem worst than what they really are because we have instant access and continuous information drowning our senses 24 / 7 with modern technology: Television, radio, and internet.

Just some things to think about.

Since about 8 of the 12 countries were closed to the gospel (Indonesia totally Muslim, Sri Lanka Hindu and Buddhist, India Hindu, etc.), now with the relief efforts underway, the Gospel will more likely have an open door. A former missionary to Indonesia told me that she thinks God is going to use this disaster to pave the way for the Gospel being brought in.

Christians relief funds are among the agencies bringing in food and water and can be a witness to Christ this way as well. I think all believers should give something, even if they can only give $5, to one of the relief agencies, and pray for those affected by this, and for the truth of Christ to be brought into the spiritual darkness there.

I hope you are right, Marcia, and the Gospel will have a window of opportunity to reach people where the door has been closed for so many years.

We also should remember that some of the areas hard hit were tourist areas, luxury resorts, and a lot of wickedness going on. Not everyone was in poverty that was affected by the tsunami. In fact, some places still have tourists there and I visited one tourist diving web site in Maldives where they are open for business as usual. http://www.manthiri.com/Update.asp

    From the Internet:
Needless to say, there is an AIDs problem - a fact which has been virtually ignored in the press regarding rescue and humanitarian efforts and discussions regarding disease threats.

Indonesia has been a hot bed of world terrorism. Besides being closed to the Gospel, there has been a history of human rights abuses, and the Muslims there have tortured and murdered Christians; one place in particular (at the epicenter) was a den of terrorists who have planned the majority of homicide bombings for the last 20 years, all over the globe (according to CNN).

I know it isn't popular to say on this board, but it could very well be God's judgment. There are no accidents - God is in full control. At any rate, God knows the number of hairs on each head and He knows who died and who was spared and the reasons why are of His choosing. He holds the keys to life and death. Sometimes the righteous do perish with the unGodly, but we know they go to heaven. And so did the innocent children who died.

Indonesia isn't totally muslim - I have had an opportunity to visit the small area of the country located around the city of Manado that is at least ethnically "Christian."

I've seen that t-shirt on a person in Dublin. I just can't see these things as God's judgement, so I agree with you.

God was gracious in the midst of this. Had it occurred at night, the death toll would be much higher.

    But the picture is eerie!

It almost looks like OBL's spirit is coming out of the dead man.

    Is this a hoax?

Hoax? Probably not. OBL is quite the folk hero among Muslim youth.

I still think this was another "wake-up" call from God.
I will truly pray that the Gospel will reach these people in the midst of this tragedy.
