Frank Gaffney, former under Secretary of Defense in the Reagan Administration, posted this comment about the recent failed coup in Turkey and the ensuing brutal crackdown in which thousands were indicted:

"The End of the Line for Turkish Democracy
"Turkish President Recep Tayyep Erdogan once described democracy as a bus you disembark upon reaching your destination. Erdogan is now forcing his country out of the bus.

"In the aftermath of a short-lived and hapless coup attempt, he has declared a three-month state of emergency, facilitating his purge of political opponents and consolidation of power. It will also help Erdogan complete his fundamental transformation of Turkey, from a secular Muslim nation into a sharia-adherent and brutally repressive Islamic Caliphate.

"One of those political opponents is Fethullah Gulen, another Turkish Islamist who runs a global cult and business empire from an armed camp in Pennsylvania’s Poconos mountains. Erdogan wants him extradited on the grounds that Gulen was behind the coup. Washington is investigating those charges. It should also investigate – and shut down – Gulen’s 150-plus problematic charter schools in this country."

Gulen has a couple of Islamist schools in Indianapolis; he apparently tries to convert poor people to Islam by promising them a scholarship to a good school but a school that seeks to convert children to Islam. If Erdogan got Gulen extradited to Turkey, chances are that Gulen would die in a Turkish prison. It may be that Gulen promised to support the coup but he probably also wishes a Turkish Caliphate in all likelihood.

This is all going to fast for the coup not to have been a hoax. Either that, or Erdogan spent serous amount of time planning for the possibility of a coup.

I think that you are right. My opinion is that in the long run, Islam cannot tolerate a secular state because Islam prefers a despotism that mixes a strong leader and Islam. We need to boycott Islamic goods. Maybe Erdogan will just be another dictator and will forget the primitive shariah law.

As for Gulen, I think that his schools should be exposed as Islamic indoctrination centers.
