In the interest of equal time/fairness, since some like liberals better, here's Why I like (traditional) conservatives:

Conservatives believe in the sanctity of human life from conception. Conservatives stand for defending the rights of the most helpless and weakest among us.

Conservatives take a stand for traditional family values. Dad, mom, and children. Like God and nature planned.

Conservatives believe in individual opportunity for life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. So did our forefathers. Liberals believe the government (all of us taxpayers) should provide for an individual's life, liberty, and pursuit of happiness...from cradle to grave.

Conservatives believe in educational excellence, teaching the basic three R's and competition for excellence. Be all that you can be. Liberals believe in a touchy-feely education where everybody is equal no matter what and where the playing ground is always level. Even though life isn't a level playing field.

Conservatives believe in putting America & America's interest first, above all other nations, and especially our enemies. Liberals really don't believe we have any enemies, and on the small chance that we do, if we weren't so rich and shared all our wealth with the rest of the planet, then everyone would like America.

Conservatives believe in God, Country, Family.

    Conservatives believe in Judeo-Christian values.

Conservatives believe in separation of Church and State....not pushing God out of the state altogether.

Traditional conservative values built this great country. Men who believed in God, men who believed in traditional families, men of moral courage & passion who bled & died for our Country & Constitution. They didn't worry about political correctness when it came to declaring treason, either. Like in John Andre (who was a Christian, BTW, and Brittish), or Benedict Arnold. They took a stand for America first.

Conservatives believe that a criminal can only be changed by a change of heart (through a born-again or religious experience). Liberals believe everyone can be psychoanalyzed and/or rehabilitated. They really don't believe in evil, even though some of them say they do.

Conservatives arguments always make perfect sense and are based on moral and Christian principles. Liberals base their beliefs on what is popular at the moment, the latest fad, politically correct, or on opinion polls.

If a conservative doesn't like you, you will know it after a short time. A liberal will pretend to like you for awhile but will let you have it when you challenge the rationality or logic of their position.

I would rather go down fighting for moral values and Biblical truth when I face my Maker on Judgment day, than to give in to win a popularity contest among my peers or anybody else.

Conservatives are not wishy-washy. They take a stand, by george.

I would rather be caught walking in a dark alley with a conservative (than with a liberal) when confronted by a mugger/rapist. A liberal would try to psychoanalyze the mugger/rapist or give in to his demands. A conservative would just blow him away with his .357.

Because we believe in the 2nd Amendment.

Conservatives were responsible for Witch hunts, the Crusades, Lynching, and all manner of divisive directives through out man's history. Today they seek to make million of women murderers. Expel homosexuals from the church and grace and beat people over the head with extortion of eternal damnation if others don't go along with their interpretation of scripture.

They tend to make better Nazi types and KKK members. The dedication to right and wrong is the basic requirement, one they have down solid. So once a conservative believes something is wrong... heads will roll.

Other than those traits, I like conservatives, they make great targets of liberal rhetoric. :D ;)

Hi, Post. You're talking about ultra radicals, not
    conservatives, I think.

And I forgot something else....it is conservative Christians who have been responsible for spreading the Gospel of Jesus Christ throughout the ends of the earth.

Liberals either don't believe in god or heaven or hell; or if perchance they do believe in God, heaven & hell, they believe everybody is going to heaven no matter what god they believe in. :(

As far as Hitler's Nazis, I would like to see some proof that born-again Christian conservatives are in the same league as Germany's Nazis. This is the same old rhetoric that is passed off as truth by the liberals, but I've yet to hear any born-again Christian say all Jews should be put to death and the Aryan Nation is the supreme race. In fact, conservatives are very pro-life and have actively fed the hungry & clothed the needy throughout the world.

SO who is responsible for that lie? Probably misguided liberals. :(

You had some trouble in biology, so let's try history.

The witch hunts in America were extremely localized and the result of hysteria, not of conservatism.

The Crusades were run by the Roman Catholics, not by Christians.

Lynching is a product of mob psychology/hysteria and fear.

The 'divisive directives' have been primarily to try to get back to basic Bible from liberal influences.

Make millions of women murderers???? You mean calling abortion what it is? The murders have already been commited. We are not making anyone a murderer. We are simply telling the truth about what happened.

Expel PRACTICING homosexuals, yes. Absolutely. The church is for followers of Jesus to gather to worship and learn together. It is not a boys club/girls club. So sorry.

You can't 'extort' damnation. Do you mean exhort?

But yes, there is a dedication to right versus wrong. It has to do with morals, ethics, honesty, and reality.

In the meantime, your mockery of us and anyone else who stands in the way of your human 'wisdom' is what the rest of us are warned about in Psalm 1.

    ==============

    On to the positive:

    What I like about conservatives?

    We don't kill babies.

We don't make excuses for those who do kill babies.

We don't have to 'interpret' the Bible. We can just take it the way it's written, in a straightforward manner.

We know to depend on God and not on ourselves for answers.

We know to depend on God and not ourselves for our goals.

We know to depend on God and not on ourselves for our worth.

We know Jesus really, really meant it when He said, "If you love me you will obey me."

We don't need to change our doctrines with the swaying opinions of men. The Bible stands firm age after age, just as readable, just as relevant, just as trustworthy.

We can love the sinner without embracing the sin.

We know Jesus meant it when He called God "Our Father" and not "Our Parent"!

We know that men and women have been given different roles in life by our Creator and we don't need to rearrange His plan and directive.

We know that Christ only had to use Scripture to fight temptation. That is all we need as well. Analysis and psychology and 12 step methods are so far back in effectiveness that I lost them over the horizon awhile ago.

We know that Christ was virgin born, and that the Resurrection was real and physical.

We know God meant what He said and said what He meant in Genesis.

We know we can trust God.

I wonder what personality type came up with this idea, If an old woman sinks and drowns, she’s not a witch; if she floats and lives, then she is a witch and the Bible tells us not to suffer a witch to live. So we shall burn her alive? Dogmatic Conservative or open minded Liberal? I'm just guessing... oh I don't know... Conservative?

Next history lesson, hundreds of women were murdered by good upstanding conservative church folk. This same thing was going on in England also where many more hundreds where killed.

Oh, so they have a different Bible so that's ok. You admit you have the correct interpretation now... Right. They killed then we killed using misinterpreted scripture. Well I'm glad you have it right finally.
ah, I think you forgot to finish the sentence, here I will do it for you. Lynching is a product of mob psychology/hysteria and fear carried out by open minded Liberals... oh wait that wouldn't make sense... carried out by closed minded conservatives. There... that sounds right now.

Yea, you finally admit one. Thank you.

Not truth, just your opinion. You still have failed to show Biblical support.
Well if that's how you run your church, there shouldn't be anyone there next Sunday because they all will have committed sins by then. How many did you commit this week? Some of your posts may be sinful too, did you "go and sin no more" if they are? Now how do you really know if you are continuing to sin or not? Is it just a "feeling"?

Kicking non-harmful sinners out of the Church will only put more people in hell.
No, I meant extort... as in believe as I do or you will die and go to hell if you don't.

I mock you, you mock me, somewhere in there is a valid argument. I wish you weren't so emotional in your arguments because you include all these invalid attacks that don't help with your argument.

Helen thanks once again for your post. You go where my anger at post its views will not let me go sometimes. You know he should have added that conservatives were responsible for slavery, I don't see how he missed that one. My point is that you cannot brand a conservative christian with what a baptist from centuries or decades past has done. If a person is wrong he is wrong but that doesn't mean that those of us who stand for God's word today are in error. We all must stand before our creator and I know that there is much on my slate to be repented of but to wilfully teach others to go against the Bible is sickening. I enjoy this board very much but his views taint the discussion. I wonder if truly he should have went the way of the atheists that he defended so on the board.

Excuse me, but that is what I am claiming you are doing in some of these discussions. I think it is sickening to see some of you use the Bible out of context, twist scripture to support hard hearted, closed minded ideals which hurt the body of Christ. It makes me sick to know that millions have already gone to hell because of the "do or die" attitude of ultra conservative people in the Church over the centuries. They will have to answer to God. Here is a example of what it might be like.

Jesus to a new arrival... "I sent you sinners day after day, and you told them they had to stop sinning or get out of the body of Christ until they could stop. All the while you continued doing your sins and sins you didn't even realize you were committing. So why do you think your sin is different than other peoples sin? Why did you send my lost children away? Many got mixed up in other false religions and now are lost, I can't help them now that they have died. I entrusted them to you and you sent them away. You created a club in your church, not a body of Christ. You failed me and now you expect to enter into heaven. You say you knew me and followed my way and now I must turn my back on you. Depart!"

Jesus defended the sinners and lost souls too, do you think he was an atheist? Is anyone that witness' to atheist...one of them too?
Continue preaching to the choir Murph, I'm sure you are ringing up lots of points in heaven.

    New topic, same villain….. [IMG]

The thing I notice about liberals, such as post-it, they usually don’t have absolutes…. They’re almost always willing to compromise on his, or her, position… They even criticize you for not being open minded enough in order for you to understand their argument…Of course, they would be willing to compromise! After all, a half falsity is better than the whole truth in their eyes…

A true Christian conservative never comprises the truth, or what they believe to be the truth… The spirit is their only teacher…. Liberals have got their god (master) in science…… They are perfectly willing to trade-off their position, in order for you to make a concession….….

(See if Liberals have a sense of humor) :D but you better be careful about comparing Conservatives to Nazis FOR on the extreme left are such Lovable villains as Lenin, Stalin, Mao, Castro, or even socialists such as Hitler.

Please back that up with proof of where I have compromised on a truth. I don't ever compromise truth. I question possible falsehoods as well as assumed truths which have errors or problems with interpretation. I have many absolutes which don't change and can't change as far as I'm concerned.

Please list any truths I have compromised on, otherwise, you are guilty of being a false witness.

Please don't confuse terms and meaning here. We aren't talking political conservative and liberals. Each of these men you just listed were "conservative" in personal values and morals. That's why they killed so many that didn't see things their way. "Do or Die".

Of course, I'm not comparing conservative church members to these murderers, I'm saying that it is the "personality type" that is the same. Of course I don't think conservative Baptist are going to start killing people, well maybe a few hundred thousand stinkin' terrorist, but hey, I'm right there with ya Baby.

    Dear fellow conservatives,

I think they have hung themselves pretty adequately.

"Conservative" means to conserve, to save. I am reminded of something the Bible says:

This is what the Lord says:
    "Stand at the crossroads and look;
    ask for the ancient paths;
ask where the good way is, and walk in it,
and you will find rest for your souls.

    Jeremiah 6:16

    and again

    Your hands made me and formed me;
give me understanding to learn your commands.
May those who fear you rejoice when they see me,
for I have put my hope in your word.

    Psalm 119:73-74

Folks, Jesus chose fishermen -- and a tax collector! His words, whether spoken by Himself directly, or through the authors of the Bible, are simple and clear. We can trust Him; we can believe Him.

I posted a poem on one of these forums some time ago, and I would like to encourage you with it again here:

    THE ANVIL -- GOD'S WORD
    unknown poet

Last eve I passed beside a blacksmith's door
    And heard the anvil ring the vesper chime;
Then, looking in, I saw upon the floor
Old hammers, worn with beating years of time.

"How many anvils have you had," said I,
"To wear and batter all those hammers so?"
"Just one," said he, and then, with twinkling eye,
"The anvil wears the hammers out, you know."

And so, thought I, the anvil of God's Word,
    For ages skeptic blows have beat upon;
Yet, though the noise of falling blows was heard,
The anvil is unharmed -- the hammers gone.

In the long run, friends, God's Word will stand with us or without us. It is HIS. What we can do here is to try to stop those who are twisting it from confusing others who read the posts here. Many, many people do, who never register and never post.

We can make a quiet and informed stand for the simple truth that even fishermen could follow. And I pray that our lives will reflect the light of that truth in a calm and joyous and loving way to the people who know us, who see us, who read us.

I encourage us all to read the Bible faithfully, to pray constantly, and to listen and follow continuously. The one Way is very old, you know...and millions have walked it before us. Their faith lights our way. Let our faith light the way for those who come behind us (with a nod to Steve Green for that song, which I love).

Now, I am off to write up a brief Bible study for Exodus 14 and post it and then get to bed. First day of school for the kids tomorrow and I want to be awake enough to enjoy my freedom! :D

It pleases me that you think I am ringing up points in Heaven, where my friend are you ringing up points? I do appreciate your little story it shows how wrong you are about me. I suppose you and I should make a practice of exchanging nice stories because we surely cannot discuss the Bible that you reject.

    Just a point of clarification.

I didn't say I like liberals better than conservatives.

I said I like them. And with reason.

But let me point something out here. Fundamental to som eof what my fellow conservatives are saying here is the assumption that: the interpretations of Scripture that conservatives hold to are accurate interpretations, and hence are as true as the Scriptures themselves.

That's fine. But it needs to be realised that Liberals hold to the same assumption. Just some different interpretations.

So to assert that liberals deny the truth of Scripture because they deny Conservative interpretations of scripture actually begs the question of whether those conservative interpretations are accurate. It is the very question liberals ask. It is the very question that seemingly threatens many conservatives.

I would also like to point out tha while al of the positives about conmservatives are, IMO, true, the do not for a moment excuse the faults of conservatives, the ones that liberals, by and large, don't have. And as I said on the other thread, that fact is all the harder to understand because those who have the truth should lack those faults.

Latreia: (from Liberal thread) "The liberals I know understand that for the church to be what it should be the church needs to change, and needs God for that. Less prone to being sanctimoniously self righteous if you will."

Sanctimony & self righteousness has nothing to do with it. This is just another liberal blame game. When Conservative Christians speak out and call abortion for what it is, murder, homosexuality for what it is, an abomination, for example, liberals point the accusatory finger of "self-righteousness" and "sanctimony."

God's Word doesn't change. The holiness of God doesn't change. Sin is still sin today, just as it was yesterday.

What liberals want and have achieved in many churches is a social gospel. Preaching to "itching ears" because telling the truth makes them uncomfortable and is not currently politically correct.

Whoa, Nellie! Wait a minute. I don't feel threatened for one little minute (and I doubt if other conservatives on here do, either) regarding interpretation of Scriptures. So go ahead...challenge us. Give it your wildest whirl!

No the assertion is that liberals deny the truth of Scripture, period, not the conservative interpretation of scripture. That is because liberals don't accept the WHOLE COUNSEL of the Word of God. It has nothing to do with conservative or liberal interpretation.

Conservatives believe the whole Book. Period. And comparing Scripture with Scripture. On any and all subjects that liberals want to deny....from the existence of hell, to Saved by Grace thru Faith, the Atoning Blood of Jesus Christ, Virgin Birth, Death, Burial, and Resurrection of Jesus Christ, Homosexual abomination, murder of the unborn, the whole gambit....the Basics! The Fundamentals of the Faith.

Liberals make wild assertions but can't produce Scripture to back those assertions up, time after time on this Board! (I won't list the threads here, but I think we all know who I mean.. [IMG] )

So pick your subject where you feel there is a conservative vs liberal interpretation. Support your claims with Scripture upon Scripture. Precept upon Precept. And challenge any conservative on this Board.

I think I can speak for all of us who consider ourselves to be Biblical conservatives. We don't fear a liberal challenging us to the Scriptures....because we accept ALL of them as God's Word. It's easy to take pot shots at us. But let's put the test to where the rubber meets the road! Go ahead, make our day! :D [IMG]
