Hey there everybody [IMG] I know I said in a post a while back that I was taking a break from the internet in order to spend more time in the Word and in prayer. Well, so far it's been going okay. Just online a few minutes once an evening to check e-mails, then its sign-off time for me.

However, something showed up in my e-mail today that makes my blood boil, and I wanted to share it with you all and get your perspective on the subject. After all, I may be "all wet and way off base" as to how I look at it.

Anyway, somehow the fine folks over at Changing Your World Ministries (a.k.a. Creflo Dollar Ministries) got a hold of my e-mail addy and send me their online magazine once a month. I've never really read through it; usually I just delete it when I see who it's from. What I got today was an appeal for help. I am including the entire text of the message so you can see the 'seriousness' of the situation...

    --------------

The Changing Your World Broadcast Is In Jeopardy!

As you already know, this ministry has been called by God to teach His Word with simplicity and understanding, thereby making it easy for people to apply it to their lives and be completely transformed. One vehicle God uses to accomplish this mission is through the Changing Your World Broadcast. It is one of our most important ministry tools, because it allows us to reach nearly one billion homes worldwide with the life-changing Gospel of Jesus Christ.

Unfortunately, we are currently facing a $2.2 million debt that needs your attention. In order for the broadcast to stay on the air, a minimum donation of $35.00 is needed from each partner to help pay this bill. I’m asking that you pray about what God would have you to give in order to help us defray this cost.

I am convinced, now more than ever, that God is preparing Creflo Dollar Ministries and its partners for great breakthrough. However, it will take a collective effort on everyone’s part to do what needs to be done to make a mark in this world that cannot be erased!

Taffi and I appreciate your faithful support of this ministry. As you seek God regarding your donation and continue to be faithful in your giving, you can be sure that you will receive a great reward (Luke 6:38).

    Dr. Creflo A. Dollar

    ----------------

I'm sorry, but like I said earlier, this just makes my blood boil. Yeah, I know that the "gospel is free, but somebody's gotta pay for the plumbing," as a pastor of mine used to say on more than one ocassion, but this is more than just a little over the top, don't you think?

I mean, if God called you to do something for Him; to reach people with the good news of the gospel, don't you think He would also provide the means to do the job.

"Unfortunately, we are currently facing a $2.2 million debt that needs your attention." Don't you think that their $2.2 million debt needs their attention? Maybe they need to look at their budget. Maybe they can trim a little here and a little there. Maybe dump a plane or two (assuming they have private jets, of course). Maybe cut back on the lavish sets they use for their ministry TV program (yes, I'll admit to having watched it for a minute or two while flipping through the channels) when they are "teaching" from a studio set and not showing a "sermon" taped at a church someplace. I mean, come on, let's try to trim some of the fat first before asking for handouts. And then to promise that "you can be sure that you will receive a great reward (Luke 6:38)" is just out and out playing people for fools.

Anyway, my ranting and raving is over for now. I'd just like to see what some of you think about this. Should people support ministries like this, or just give / tithe to their home church, or should they do both?

I'll be checking back in in a day or two to see how goes the discussion.

    Thanks, and God Bless!!!

    Adam

My question for Dr. Dollar would be why doesn't he just "faith" that 2.2 million into his coffers? Makes me wonder where is the sin in his life. After all, God wants people (and I assume that includes his ministry) rich. Doesn't he?

Creflo Dollar's "ministry" is in trouble? I hope he goes off the air. [IMG]

I wonder if I could send a donation to his debtors in exchange for them pulling the plug on his show.

Strange that the Web site for his World Changers Church International includes this tidbit:

"To this day, the ministry continues to extol the virtues of debt-freedom, trusting God to initiate and complete new projects without the added burden of debt. The construction of the World Dome, by a growing church with only a few thousand dollars in the bank when the project began, remains a model that ministries all over the world continue to emulate, and a testament to the miracle-working power of God, when you trust Him as your source."

I remember when binny hinn's ministry financial records were siezed for audit and were put on public display for a short time. His book sales alone more than paid for his luscious lifestyle and ministry needs. Then the evangelism / "healing" ministries give great amounts of $$$ to his pockets to more than pay the staff and costs of the ministry yet he absolutely needs the millions of viewers to send in weekly offerings to his ministry because they just cannot survive without it :(

Laugh and be upset if you will, but Creflo Dollar's church is one of the 4 largest in the country (I think it might be number one but can't recall for sure now).

The real problem are his heretical teachings and the way these wolves are attacking God's words and the flock. However, this won't stop him. Look for more like this in the days ahead as false teachings are increasing.

Does size really matter. If the TV listners will send me 2 million dollars and I will start another church, staff it, buy some TV airtime and ask for more. "Our Church, My Ministry-infomercial and Paid Programming," comes to mind.

Adam a.k.a. He Died 4U said:
You got that right. He sure will. And that's why I don't like my countrymen coming here to the US on deputation trips to visit churches and get pledges of support so they can continue on with their church-based schools and other outreach ministries back home.
Like you said, if God called them to do that work, then He sure will supply their needs.

Christians should be supporting Christian Ministries, ones that feed the hungry and clothe the naked, ones that visit the sick in hospital.

Which is better, to help a TV evangalist get and maintain a Lear Jet, or to give $5.00 to the leprosy mission and give someone a pair of shoes to wear and assist them to be cured of Leprosy?

The Leprosy Mission does an amazing work in curing people of Leprosy and evangalising the Gospel, yet with the sheer number of Lepers in India and Indonesia, they are barely able to help a significant number of them. We should be helping organisations like these, rather than people that have sold out for Material Goods.

You know if Television evangleist(sp) were what they claimed, I would support them. There may very well be one or two that are. But, most of them are scams, who are only in it for the money and NOT God's word. It's very sad that we have this in our lives. It really does hurt ALL of our testimony when we have to combat with this when trying to win people to Christ.
