..............."Every Labor government there has ever been from 1926 to the present day has always ended in exactly the same way because they essentially try to run a communist financial system," he contends, "and it doesn't work any better here than it worked in the Soviet Union."...........

The U.S. economy started collapsing after 8 years of conservative economics during the just completed Bush administration. Only government intervention kept it from going totally under just before the administration ended.

You, apparently, do not know what conservative economics is. Bush did not use conservative economics. Conflating capitalism and socialism is a recipe for disaster. When you add socialism a failed economic philosophy to capitalism it is like adding dirt to clean water. The water always gets dirty. Not visa versa

What economic benchmarks are you using to say that the economy was/is collapsing?

Yes, I do - lack of regulation, pandering to the wealthy and the big corporations, ignoring the fate of the middle and working classes.

How about the 70K jobs lost today or the 500K lost last month. How about the banks and auto industry are borrowing from the government. I wouldn't call that a sound economy and Bush gave huge tax cuts to the big wage earners.

Here is what people fail to see these days, cutting taxes don't employ people because the CEO's are pocketing the tax decrease and the profit from cutting the job. Take Citi Bank for instance, Bush gave all those tax cuts plus we gave them tarp money and what did they do, today they bought new corporate jets...

So you think it would be better for aviation companies to go out of business and lay off all the steel workers, textile workers, electronics workers, fabricators, jet engine workers, rubber workers, plastic workers, glass workers, design engineers, etc, who make these things?

Can I send them your address to write you thank you notes when they are drawing unemployment?

The fact is that these planes are built by high paid workers, involving people from all kinds of industries. They were designed by high paid engineers. If people stop buying their products, then they don't have jobs.

We have all these people telling us we need to spend more money, but then when people do it, you get upset.

Make up your mind already ...

BTW, this jet was probably ordered a long time ago before the collapse and bailout, and these

Did you know they are trying to sell two jets worth 27 million? Do you think no one should buy those and leave Citibank stuck with 54 million in jets instead of 50 million?

Don't forget, this is what happened to the auto industry ... people stopped buying their products and so the workers lost their jobs.

It's made in France. We live in a global economy. People routinely buy stuff from other nations. It's the way it works.

It sounds like you are saying that the well-being and employment of God's image-bearers in France is less important than the well-being and employment of God's image-bearers here. I disagree.

Lets take it back to President Wilson's days and fron that time forward. That was when the Federal Reserve was invented.

If Citi wants to use our bailout money to keep France’s economy running and her aviation industry in business, when Wichita’s Kansas’ aviation industry is starting to layoff people, can I send them your address…?

So I pose the same question back to you that you posed to LeBuick…

I am not the one complaining. I think people all over the world deserve jobs. Apparently Citi thinks that the jets made in Wichita don't meet their needs.

I don't think it's the government's role to tell people where to spend their money.

So you are not using any economic benchmarks - just your feelings?

    Not a very reliable method.

    So it's the unemployment rate?

It was higher in 1982. Was the economy collapsing then too?

Banks and auto companies borrowing does not equal a collapsing economy.

CEO taking bonuses are an indicator of a collapsing economy?

Buying a corporate jet is an indicator of a collapsing economy?

Too much rant... not enough thought.
