The number of Americans filing for unemployment benefits fell more than expected last week, nearing a 42-year low as labor market conditions continued to tighten in a boost to the economy.

Initial claims for state unemployment benefits dropped 5,000to a seasonally adjusted 267,000 for the week ended Dec.19, not far from levels last seen in late 1973, the Labor Department said on Thursday.

Then there is always the millions of people who are unemployed, who cannot find work, and who want work. Those people do not get counted in that so called unemployment number.

Give your source and numbers. Also give us a chart to show how this number has changed the last five years. Otherwise we all realize you are only spouting dissent because of your blind hatreds.

He can't or won't answer, at least not truthfully. That number has actually fallen just as unemployment has. But I am not going to help him at this time by citing the source I found. Of course, he will be all bluster and continue his hateful dishonest replies. His blind hatred of Obama will never allow him to admit the truth as it now exists.

I would also add those who are working but not at the level they once were. There a many who are working for far less salaries and benefits.

Just what the GOP and their supporters, like you, approve of. Profits for the rich. Cut pay and benefits for the working man. After all you oppose raising wagers for the poor and also oppose having the rich pay their air share. Your economic ideas are part of the problem.

Yes I approve of that. I approve of those who takes economic risks and create jobs to receive the benefits of that risks and job creation.

I have never said I support this. Can you provide a quote where I have said such a thing?

I have never said this either. Can you provide a quote where I have said this? In fact I support everyone doing as economically well as possible both the rich and the poor.

How much is a fair share for the rich to pay? What is meant by "fair" when it comes to confiscating someones private wealth? Who decides what is fair?

Crabby you would first have to be able to determine exactly what the problem is. Unfortunately you have never posted anything that would convince anyone you do. I see you are getting mad again. When you cool off please answer my questions or we will understand you have falsely accused me once again.

Should those profits be taxed at the same rate that the middle class pay on their income taxes?

Oh, I am not going to troll back through your posts. Anyone who has followed you knows where you stand, and it is not with the poor and middle class.

You opposed Obamacare that brought health care to millions of uncovered people.

You oppose raising the minimum wage while being against cutting loopholes for the rich. This would not change their percentage rate, but would result in their paying more.

Yes, you have. You opposed any type increased taxes on the rich while opposing a raise in the minimum wage.

Why do you oppose having the rich pay as much percentage wise as their secretaries? Remember that flap?

CTB, most reports I hear on the unemployment numbers give as a caveat the fact that there are numbers who are not counted as they are no longer looking for work. Sorry, it's just what I remember from listening to NPR on the radio. So, I can't footnote it.

Actually I support a flat tax where it is the exact same on everyone.

So you cannot back up your false accusation. More dishonesty

    Yes

What it brought them was a very expensive catastrophic insurance that no one can afford. The effect is as if they have no insurance at all.

Yes it hurts the poor as has obamacare. It hurts business owners and people have gone out of business recently where it was raised.

Another accusation that is false and you cannot prove.

I do not oppose it. I am for a flat tax across the board with no subsidies to anyone and no loopholes. But that would take getting rid of the massive bureaucracy that is the IRS and in taxes there is power for politicians.

Why so you support giving politicians massive power by the use of federal taxes?

OK, is it more people or less people than 3 years ago? 2 years ago? In other words, is the situation improving or getting worse?

I guess it depends on how one wants to look at it. If you look at it as those who rto find work and finally did but are severely underemployed betting better than I suppose it is. I see it as not even close.

Squire, that is true, but those numbers have been going down as the unemployment rate goes down. No one seems to talk about the people who stopped looking, but have begun looking as the economy improved.

Yes they are and where they have gone is taken jobs they are way over qualified for and paid at a rate far less than they were. It is called under employed.

Obamacare, alone, has created thousands upon thousands of 29 hr. part time employees. You're right. They're working, but not at the level they were.
