A couple of weeks ago a new reality series on Spike ended that was called "The Ultimate Fighter" with the winner getting a contract with the UFC (Ultimate Fighting Championship). They call this stuff mixed martial arts, and can be pretty brutal. I saw a little bit of the finals, and was wondering if anyone else saw this and what you thought.
Personally, it's not anything i think i can watch often and it is NOT anything i want my kids seeing.

I was flipping through channels and passed by the CSI channel, uh, I mean SpikeTV, and happened to see the beginning of one of the episodes. Brutal is right. I quickly changed the channel. Not only did I not want my kids to see it, I didn't want to see it either.

I kinda enjoyed it. I wouldn't let my son watch it, but I think it good entertainment for adults. I enjoy watching the mix of Martial Arts, Boxing, Wrestling, and plain old street fighting. Very interesting.

I love boxing and watch it and did it for a awhile in the Navy .I really can;t watch much of Ultimate Fighting .Theres something about kicking a guy in the face that I have a tough time with .Not to mention kneeing someone in the face and punching someone in the back of the head while they lay on the floor .I know boxing isn;t chess and maybe I am a hypocrite but thats how I feel .The guys that compete are tremendous athletes though .

Oddly enough, I am a martial artist who finds the UFC rather boring. I watched a few rounds of one fight. But, I kept thinking, I can go down to the local saloon and see that kindof fighting - and I imagine they'd let me participate ;) .

I do prefer sports of one-on-one but I prefer to participate rather than watch.

As a spectator, I prefer boxing to MA.

As to which is "worse" or sinful or whatever - I can't really say I think about it much. I don't see a lot of difference between it and boxing but it just doesn't interest me enough to think that deeply about it. To each his own - I've been accused of being a "sinner" for practicing martial arts or enjoying boxing so I hesitate to name-call anybody who enjoys another form of the same thing.

UFC is NOT sin... that's my sport and what i love to do. It's the greatest sport there is since you have to not only be in top physical conditioning but know how punch/kick/grapple/submisions,etc. It's a sport that will help you on the street and in life. It's not fighting out of anger but a sport with rules.

    Now...professional golf....that's a sin.

Strat....what martial art do you do?
