A few years back we did the same for our mission work in India (located in the Bombay/Mumbai area). A major portion of their outreach has been the operation of a children's home for abandoned children.

A group from our church just recently returned from visiting our mission works in both Thailand (where we have been heavily involved in rebuilding a village that was completely devastated in the 12/2004 tsunami) and India.

Right now, another group is visiting our mission work in Alberta, Canada, which is aimed primarily towards the Blackfoot Indians of that area. (Some of those that were on the Asia trip will also be going on this one too!)

A couple weeks from now, a third group leaves for Peru to work with a missionary we support with the Indians of the Andean Mountains area in the southern part of that country.

And, here at home, we've initiated steps to have a congregation of Ethiopian and Eritrean brothers and sisters merge with our fellowship. (Can't wait to hear their leader preach to us these next two Sundays!!)

Actually, I was off by one week with regards to when Pastor Derijee will be speaking are our corporate services.....It'll be this coming Sunday (July 16). At that time, we will be observing the Lord's Supper with our Ethiopian brothers and sisters as well. Most of these people are dirt poor, but you can see their love of the Lord just radiate from them.

Yesterday (July 9) we heard a stirring challenge from a young man in our fellowship about how going along on one of our many trips our church has sponsored to help out in the Hurricane Katrina recovery helped him to really "connect" with not only those people there in Pass Christian MS, but also with our own people.

He mentioned that prior to that, he was merely on the periphery of what serving Jesus was all about, but these trips to help those dear people who'd lost their houses was what brought him to the realization that life just isn't "all about me."

We're also looking forward to sending another group there to continue helping these people. What a joy it is to be the hands and feet of Jesus to them!

Good for him! This is a very typcial reaction for believers who actually come out to the mission fields of the world. They start to "look on the fields," which are white with the harvest.
