snippet:In a mysterious condition affecting honeybees called colony collapse disorder, the potential effect could go well beyond beekeepers, to our dinner tables.

P.N. Williams is a former president of the Georgia Beekeepers Association. He has been tending bees for more than 40 years. He said he has never known colony collapse disorder to be in America before.

"It doesn't seem to have a pattern...it just...it's like a plague", Williams told 11Alive's Marc Pickard.

snippet:Millions of Florida's honeybees have vanished in a mysterious epidemic striking bees nationwide.

Honeybees are leaving their hives as though on routine duty to gather pollen and nectar, but they never return.

Honeybee deaths could threaten Michigan's fruit crops

    snippet:
SCHOOLCRAFT — The mysterious deaths of honeybees across the country could have troubling consequences for Michigan’s usually fruitful fruit industry.
If there aren’t enough bees to pollinate the blossoms of apples, cherries, cucumbers and blueberries by the spring, the state’s $359-million fruit industry could suffer low yields, poor fruit quality and higher production costs.

My son, eat thou honey, because it is good; and the honeycomb, which is sweet to thy taste. so shall the knowledge of wisdom be unto thy soul: when thou hast found it, then there shall be a reward, and thy expectation shall not be cut off. Proverbs XXIV Vs 13 & 14

More likely an X-files type attempt to strike at the heart of our farming communities with a deadly and vile honeybee virus. I think I saw this on an episode of Star Trek: Voyager.

Actually, the cow flatulence is killing the bees.

Someone ought to raise a big stink.

No, I meant it's frogs that are dying from global warming's increase in fungal diseases - the cows that are killing them indirectly.

I guess the rotting frog corpses are stinking up the swamps...

They're from Europe anyway. We'll just get in the guest worker bees from Brazil & Africa.

I was going to offer a stinging rebuke to your comment, but I was arrested by the pun police.

actually, it's more along the lines of what Jesus reminded us about...

-tomorrow has plenty of worries of its own.
-this is something that I can't help, and know precious little about.
-God will provide. He takes care of bees...He'll take care of me. Even if food prices double.

If it's poison, or something we're bringing on ourselves...of course, let's fix it. If it's nature taking its course, or remains in the realm of the unknown...then I just go back to what Jesus said about worry, tomorrow, and God's provision.

But what do I know...I was a Bee student in school.

    (sorry for the parting shot)

Please, don't talk about his avatar. He already got grief over his red eyed syringe carryin' taco bell dog.

We don't want to see the "no offensive avatars" avatar again!
