How Obama can pay for a national medical plan is beyond my comprehension! We are near bankruptcy, and even if we bring the troops home, it will be years before our finances will be able to pay for a national health plan. Obama needs to think about "Drilling Here, Drilling Now, and Keeping the cash in the USA".

We could afford a national health plan if we quit sending 800 billion a year to those countries that "hate" us, but not our money.

    What Say You???

This was the Bush Neo-Cons plan, to bankrupt the U.S. economy so social programs could no longer be funded. They've done a great job wouldn't you say? I say let's turn the tables and quit funding WAR and instead help the needy.

The reason we are going bankrupt, Bush and 6 years of a Republican controlled House and Senate, Bush tax cuts, but no spending cuts, instead they are spending like there is no tomorrow, bailout after bailout. We will all pay later for their mistakes. At least Obama is a change from Bush, the other option is that lier McCain and more tax cuts(for the rich) whom are getting bailed out.

I agree that Bush and his pals have spent us into the poorhouse. I also agree that Obama's plan will cause a mess and a half.

We cannot afford a health plan run by our government.

    Why?

    1. Because government is notoriously less efficient at running things than the private sector. See private vs. public schools for more. Or, look at Walter Reed Army Medical Center...FEMA...the IRS...any local Drivers' License office...etc.
    2. With Gov't funding comes gov't control. You want government healthcare? Daddy gubmint will get to tell you how to live every aspect of your life...why? Because their "job" is to take care of your health...and thus they've been invited to meddle.
    3. Show me in the Constitution where there is a "right to healthcare."
    4. As with any other government program (Dem's or Repub's...it doesn't matter)...this will become a vote-buying scheme. Every 4 years, we will see our "benefits" increase, as the politicians seek to buy our affections. And most people are ignorant enough to let it work. Sad.
    5. These Washington bozos (both sides of the aisle) couldn't balance a budget if their lives depended on it. (Want proof in the medical field of problems, government-style? See medicaid) I give 'em three years before the indebtedness, "unfunded mandates," and politically-driven bad medicine ruin what we do have here. We'll have wealthy citizens getting out of the US for medical procedures.
    6. Government-run medicine (especially in its purest (and end-result) form, the government healthcare as the only option) is patently anti-choice, and thus anti-freedom. No competition means there will be no motivation to put out a better product. Customer service will not matter (don't believe that? Try getting a government agent that cusses you out reprimanded).
Is our healthcare in need of reform? You bet...but Government healthcare will cause much, much more problems that it solves.

You mean like Medicaid/Medicare? It's already coming out of your check, we just need to fix it so that more goes to the patients needs than to administering the program. That will help.

As a % of GDP the National Debt ROSE under Reagan and Bush and went DOWN under Carter and Clinton. So much for political rhetoric.

No. This is correct. Let's see your facts.
