    US military returns control of Anbar to Iraqis

    BAGHDAD - The U.S. military handed over control of the once brutally violent Anbar province to Iraqi forces Monday, marking a major milestone in America's plan to eventually send its troops home.


    But American officials warned that the struggle against al-Qaida in Iraq and other insurgents was not over in the western region that was the scene of some of the bloodiest battles since the 2003 invasion.

    And pray that in 2 years, whoever our president may be isn't having to make the decision to up the troop levels in Iraq because the terrorists have moved back...like Afghanistan....

    It's about time we say this is your country and if you want civil rest your citizens will have to step up and establish control. We can't defend you forever.

    Al-Qaida will always be there, it's their home.
    Radical Muslim's will always be there, it's their home.
    Suicide nuts will always be there, it's their home.

    We can't continue to be the police in their country.

    Many democrats are heavily invested in defeat.

    This will not be welcome news for them.

    I welcome anything that will bring our young men and women home alive.

    I just saw on the news that we have been paying the Iraqi salaries. Part of this transition is they will pick up the tab.
