Details Emerge about Development on Owatonna-based Pillsbury Campus

Fernbrook Family Center, which has its headquarters in Owatonna, would be the first tenant to occupy space on the campus since Pillsbury Baptist Bible College officially closed its doors on Dec. 31, 2008 — nearly five years ago.

As it currently stands, the plan is to construct two professional buildings, each about 10,000 square feet in size. . .in what is currently green space to the north of the gymnasium. . . .Last month, Belmore had said that plans were to tear down the gymnasium to make way for a third building — something that still may happen. But on Tuesday, he said that the decision on what to do with the gymnasium — a structure that he called “the most butt-ugly building on the campus” — has not yet been made.

Sadly they are simply talking about the athletic field/east end of the campus and not the quad of historic buildings.

They would build new and use much of the wooded beautiful campus for paving a parking lot. If I were a neighbor, that would be far worse than when it was a college.

I DO PRAY for Pillsbury campus to be sold and a full use of the existing buildings found. I invested years of my life there and hated to see the myopic Board and its policies destroy a great school.

would be mainly for international students who have graduated from high school and who want to study in an American college or university, but who do not have the requisite English-language skills to be admitted to those schools.

Belmore declined to say where most of the international students would be coming from, but he did say that there is a large demand for American education. . . .Among the places from which students are the most interested in coming to American universities are China, India, Saudi Arabia and various countries in South America, Belmore said.
