In the Word of God, the Lord Jesus states the following about His Return:

"But of that day and hour no on knows, not even the angels of heaven, nor the Son, but the Father alone" -Matt 24:36

To bad Jack Van Impe was not around 2,000 years ago to solve the mystery. Why do I say that? Jack Van Impe has just released a new dvd called "December 21, 2012 History's Final Day". In this video, Van Impe will "demonstrate the very real possibility that 2012 could be a year of culmination" SOURCE. What I find so very tragic is that there are thousands of Christians who will actually purchase, and believe, that video.

Let's get this straight once and for all: Nobody knows when Jesus will return. We don't know the day or the hour. That means we don't know the year or the month. Simply because Van Impe claims that the Romans believed history would end in 2012, just because some ancient chinese guy predicted history would end in 2012, and just because Mother Shipton claimed the world would "end" in 2012 does not mean it will. Jesus said nobody knows the day or hour and that is what He meant. There are no "ifs" "ands" or "buts" about it.

Click Here to see clip from their show.

O, and btw, Jesus outranks the United Nations!

I would like to say that nobody takes Van Impe seriously, but sadly, I cannot say such and be telling the truth.

Guess we can skip Christmas shopping that year.

The Mayan calendar says it's the last day.

Jack Van Impe has never said it actually is the last day.

    Details! Details!

It doesn't make as sensational a thread, this way!

I will grant that Jack and Rexella van Impe get a bit sensationalistic, but what is the difference whether they do it, or some poster on the BB does it in a misleading thread? Frankly, I don't see any difference.

Thanks Scribe, for bringing that up. One could not have actually watched and listened to the video and then accused Dr. van Impe of saying this. He clearly says (for right or wrong) that the world will never end.

You mean lies not details. ;)

    Revelation 21:1 (KJV)
And I saw a new heaven and a new earth: for the first heaven and the first earth were passed away; and there was no more sea.

As long as I can remember, Jack has been doing this end times are here stuff. You'd think after 30 years of this he would finally realize he don't know.

They almost always say it in a way that they cannot be said to be definitely saying so.

Words like "could", "might be", "possibly", "very well may be", "could it be".

The bottom line is that they start Christians speculating on things they might do well to leave alone.

I don't see any real reason to be so fussed up about people like Impe or Camping.

Bottom line is if you are God's own child, your place is with Him.

Whether there is a pre-trib rapture, a post-trib rapture, or no rapture at all, I don't care if the world ends today, tonight, while I'm writing this, or after I die and go home to be with my Savior.

It is curious to note that all the pagan calenders point to 2012. I've even seen many secular magazines speculate on these calenders as well as the History Channel and Discovery Channel. I think that we are being set up for a time where the world will (and it already does) mock any one that says the end is near, Jesus is coming.
    2 Peter 3:3-7
3Knowing this first, that there shall come in the last days scoffers, walking after their own lusts,
4And saying, Where is the promise of his coming? for since the fathers fell asleep, all things continue as they were from the beginning of the creation.
5For this they willingly are ignorant of, that by the word of God the heavens were of old, and the earth standing out of the water and in the water:
6Whereby the world that then was, being overflowed with water, perished:
7But the heavens and the earth, which are now, by the same word are kept in store, reserved unto fire against the day of judgment and perdition of ungodly men.
It is sad that men such as Van Impe will be fodder for mockery.

    The Date Setting Mr. Impe

==Jack Van Impe does not believe in the literal "end of the world" (ie...the planet blowing up or something), you are correct. However he is clearly saying that 12/21/12 will mark the time of final cumulation of history. His new dvd is titled "History's Final Day". You can try to parce sentences and find ways around the obvious all day and night, but we know what Mr. Impe is doing. He is date setting.

==I think this is really sad. The point is that Mr. Impe is, once again, guilty of setting dates for "History's Final Day" or the cumulation of current history. The fact that Mr Impe does not believe in the literal end of the world (planet) is not the issue here. The issue here is that Mr. Impe is date setting. You know this, I know this, everyone who has watched his show recently knows this. For those who have not watched his show I posted a clip from Youtube. A clip, btw, I watched in its entirety. Did you?

I have also seen them, on their show, promoting this new dvd. I know what they are claiming. It is the same thing my 12th grade Bible teacher (Mr Baker) claimed about New Years '92/'93. He claimed the rapture would happen at midnight and when it did not he claimed he never said it. However we had a class of almost 30 students who knew he did. Funny thing, Mr Baker was a big fan of Mr Impe. And you know what, when we wake up on December 22, 2012 and everything is the same, Mr Impe will find a loophole in his wording and claim that he never set a date. Just like my 12th grade Bible teacher. However Mr Impe will have his comments on tape. So, if he is alive in 2012**, he will not be able to truthfully deny what he has said.

==How is the thread misleading? Please explain. Mr Impe is date setting and I have called him on it. I will not be the first person to catch Mr Impe setting dates.

**I say "if" because it is my understanding that Mr Impe has been suffering for poor health over the past few years. I believe he has cancer (though I am not sure about that).

I remember 25 years ago when he spoke about the "HUGE" numbers of vultures that had suddenly arrived in the Valley of Megiddo. But when I was in the Valley 2 weeks later, saw very few. I see more daily in florida than I saw the entire time I was in Israel.

This doctrine is like many others. There are folks that think just because there are folks that take some "extra" liberty with the doctrine that somehow the whole thing can't be believable.

The thing is Scripture teaches us about the end times and we would do well to gain understanding from the guidance of the Holy Spirit instead of writing it all that we'll all end up in the same place eventually. If that was all God wanted us to know that's all He would have written, but since He wrote in much more detail than that it would behoove us to "live" by every word that proceeds out of His mouth!

Does anyone know the exact date? Of course not. But just because there have been those in the past that thought they did and will contine to be those in the future doesn't mean the pre-trib rapture is wrong or that there is going to be an "actual" "literal" 1,000-year reign of Christ Jesus.

    The Day and the Hour

You may see them now, but only for about another month in Florida, because come March 15th,

"The Buzzards return to Hinckley!"

Everyone knows the hour when Jesus will return. It will be between 2 PM and 3PM somewhere on this earth.
