    Veteran's Day . . .

With Veteran's Day approaching (11/11) I would like to take this opportunity to thank each of our veterans for their service to our (my) country. Regardless of your politics or your discharge status, I, personally, thank you.

Thank you & I salute you!

    Wayne

PS it is difficult to find a thread where many will be able to see this.

I do understand the debate nature of many of these threads, but can we keep this to genuine thanks?

PS . . . for those that have not served, I assure you that you will have the opportunity to make a veteran's day at work, at church, or just around your community by thanking them for their selfless service.

    Trust me . . .

Many Vietnam Veterans (many are among our Homeless Americans) have never been thanked by their fellow Americans.

I even thank God for other vets like me who just showed up on weekends and did the Reserve/Guard thing. I was never called to active duty - no need during my time, and I am thankful for that. BUT, if I had been called, I'da gone!

Buy a Vet (or active service member) lunch, pray for him/her, and tell him/her "thanks."

Remember how after 9-11 their was a great outpouring of public support for police officers, fire fighters, emergency responders?

Keep it going for our veterans, peacetime or war, guard or reserve or active. I salute when I see one -- grocery store, parking lot, bank....wherever.

We have a guy who must be 90 years old, wears his navy hat, comes into the store once or twice a week, sings the national anthem over the public address system, or some other patriotic song. I join in. I sing as loud as I can. New customers stop to stare. Old customers join in.
