    Tim,

You kinda stole my thunder. I was about to mention this very thing. But, I do think it goes even deeper than this. I think Wal-Mart has lost its way when it comes to what has made it a success. The rich folks have no intention of making Wal-Mart the next Macys. They have abandoned their base, much like the Republicans have... the middle class. And their base is figuring it out and abandoning them.

Maybe it is the lay-way program...

Maybe people are getting tried of Wal-Marts slave labor program from overseas.....

Maybe its the boycott by some church groups over them supporting the gay movement....

Or maybe just because they hired a outspoken gay right ad company..

Maybe its the boycott of the small town business owners...

It could be the unions that are mad over low payment to workers..

    but..i think its something else.

The leadership at Wal-Mart has forgot a few things about their beginnings. Wal-Mart is so big they feel, that they can do no wrong. Who can stop them? China workers will do as Wal-Mart says. Wal-Mart in great pride, will closed down a town in 2-3 years, if we want. When Church groups told them they did not agree with them giving money out to same sex groups, Wal-Mart at 1st said, they did not care what we thought. Wal-mart is to big to worry about a church feelings. Wal-Mart now wants a bank. They opened a bank in mex this week. They will control and do what they want...and who can stop them? They have fooled themselives that they are the wiser and know what they are doing above all others, and that they can control the market as they wish. Well...how about God?

Do they not know all blessings come from God? God brought them up, and can take them down at any time. God is in control of all things.

I agree. The company is not being run the way it was by its founder, the late Sam Walton.

If your made of money and don't need to bargain shop and cut corners everywhere possible just to survive, good for you, but we don't all live like that.

I've heard that from other people, too, Tim, about the elimination of the lay-away programs being the main reason for Wal-Mart's recent sluggish economic performance.

The chain, though, IS bashed by the left, at least in rhetoric, but did you know former Senator gets his unpaid staff to shop there for toys for his son?:

Wal-Mart had a winning formula, they'll bounce right back.

    Wallymart Sales Down

Surely this must be an aberration in the length of the price check line.

It is too late--Wally already has more gold than many opium and oil dealers.:tonofbricks:

    Now what?

The love of money is the root of all evil--is still a valid observation.:flower: :flower:

A young, over eager volunteer took it upon himself to drop the senator's name.

You are familiar with our part of the state. Yes without Walmart, one would have to drive to the next good size town or use the mom and pop stores downtown. We dont have a Target store, and the KMarts around the area seem to be closing. Oh yes, I forgot, we do have Dollar General and Family Dollars in several communities, and they do sell some of what one would get at Walmart. We have other groceries also. Sometimes, for instance, take diet coke. You can get diet coke at the local grocery much cheaper than Walmart. Not saying it would be easy, but everyone would survive without walmart.

Lets see, diet coke local store, $1.39, sam's choice $0.50
No we can not buy the same stuff at dollar store or family dollar, most of their stuff is pure junk, they have nothing but cleaning items thats the same as wal mart, and they are higher then wal mart.
I already drive to another town to shop. I can shop elsewhere if I want to buy rotting veggies.
What about all those common people who work at wla mart, how would they survive, there aren't a lot of jobs here, many of these people would be on unemployment and welfare. You all are talking about putting a lot of people out of work with no way of supporting their families. No way that many jobs are available here for untrained people.

    Doesn't matter.

Evil Wal-Mart must be unionized or destroyed. :BangHead:

    ???

Just a noob, but why is this thread to be closed?

That's what Edwards said, but it's still implausible. A young, over eager volunteer would have made sure he'd gotten the PS-3 for himself.

    Wal-Mart, restructure.
