I don't know if anyone listens to crosstalk, but one of the topics yesterday was Vineyard Music worship CD, "Intimacy, vol. 2." Wal-Mart of all places has refused to place this CD on their shelves unless they can place a parental warning sticker on the cover. If the world can see what is wrong with some(or all) of the CCM being put out, why can't we as Christians see?

    CCM??????????????

I am sorry...but that is your opinion...not everyone sees it that way. There are flaws in hymns as well as anything else. Common sense is what works best in anything you listen to. I happen to be one who likes a lot of CCM. But I actually listen to the words, and can discern what is right or wrong in any music.

    Lark News,
Pretty good name for that website

If you want to really evaluate the accuracy of that story, read the other stories on the page.

I would call it the Lark Funny Papers

Besides, I really don't care what vineyard music does, as I have said hundreds of times in other threads, discernment is always needed in musical selection, Christian or otherwise!

So I guess if Marilyn Manson sung Amazing grace it would minister to your soul?

I have heard some modern music that is okay. Obviously, this CD is not one.

Yes, If Marlyn Manson got gloriously saved (if he isn't already) and were to come to my church and sing Amazing Grace as his testimony, It would greatly bless my heart.

    :D

    I didn't do it. I have an airtight alibi. I was...umm...somewhere else.

I'm not sure which is funnier: the "news article" or the fact that HomeBound bought it and used it as a chance to bash CCM.

Found this on the Lark News website:

    DISCLAIMER
Larknews® is a satirical newspaper published by Joel Kilpatrick.

You nailed it, NateT! Before I believe anything to be the gospel truth, I always take a look around and see if they have a disclaimer somewhere.

I probably shouldn't be amused by someone else's folly, but I am.

Well, when your wrong your wrong. I called the radio talkshow and asked them about the creditablility of the topic at hand and they apologized, but the story was not true. They will be addressing this on their show today. Sorry for the post. But, maybe instead of laughing about a members post that you know not to be true, you could PM him/her. Thanks!

Here is the apology for the radio show.

BTW, I did not say Marilyn Manson was saved. I said he sung the song. My point being is, you cannot block out the music and just listen to the words and thing its okay. If that is the case, buy the words not the music.

I wasn't laughing at you because you got fooled (although one of the things Wal Mart is known for in Christian circles is the wide variety of CCM they sell, so why this didn't ring any bells, I don't know).

Everybody's gotten fooled by a prank or urban legend at one time or another so I don't fault you for that.

What I thought was so funny was that you seized something that was fake in order to condemn CCM, which calls the anti-CCM arguments we see here so often into even further doubt.

In all fairness to you, I knew the article was a joke, but I had to read it twice before I realized that the song titles were made up.

That's a pretty sad commentary on "Jesus is my girlfriend" type stuff that passes for "praise and worship" these days.

That's really what I found amusing, too. That, and an organization would let themselves be duped by satire and present said satire as news.

All CCM should have a parental acvisory label on it that says:

WARNING:The contents of this package are of an extreme sensual nature and appeal to the lower fleshly appetites.Your child may spontaneously burst into ecstatic worship. We assume no liability.

    Great satire [IMG]

I once suggested to a mate that the 'international mega-ministries' type Church he attended were going to release a new 'worship' CD, with the slight difference of all the songs having names like Stairway To Heaven, Smoke On The Water, Sunshine Of Your Love, etc etc :D

It could happen and hardly anyone would notice...and the ones that did notice would be heretics for "daring to touch the Lord's anointed" if they questioned it... [IMG]

I am so sorry you cannot chew bubble gum and walk at the same time.

And I too would Thank the Lord, if Maryln Manson was saved, and sang in my Church, the song Amazing Grace. All glory is Gods. By the way...is Amazing Grace CCM?

Would 'Song of Solomon' have a 'warning label' at Walmart?

It should. I'm told that ancient rabbinic tradition would not allow a man below the age of 30 to read the Song of Solomon.
